crucified woman

http://www.news.com.au/common/imaged...6569105,00.jpg

this arrogant b*stard would never dare insult/ provoke Islam in such a manner, but of course Christianity is seen as fair game, and right at Easter too of course.
This childishness is currently on display at the Melbourne art gallery.
One wonders at the gallerys complete disregard for christians feelings visiting the gallery and being confronted by this rubbish.
Would the same gallery dare to display say a koran in a toilet as work of art at Ramadan, or at any time?
Sadly it seems the only thing people respect now is possible fears of a violent reprisel.
We have moved backwards.

Considering the thousands of people crucified throughout history, isn't it a bit arrogant of Christians to assume that a depiction of anyone crucified has anything to do with their religion?

What is insulting about this? What does it have to do with Islam? What does it have to do with Christianity?

And who the hell cares if the various breeds of god-botherer find yet one more excuse to vent some of their inexhaustible supply of righteous indignation?

The pose is as you well know 'christlike' in its appearance like many other crucified poses of our lord and saviour seen in thousands of churches around the world.

Its insulting because its provocative, please read my post carefully again regarding Islam and why the same person would not dare to insult muslims today in any manner, if you cant see the correllation here, especially with whats been happening in the world for the last thirty years or so with anyone daring to insult Islam, then you truly have just recently arrived from another planet.
I wont even bother with your silly 'what has it got to do with Christianity' as it would be dignifying the stupidity of that question with a response.

Who the hell cares?
Well as most of the planet believes in God, quite alot of people mate.

Jesus was only the most famous person to suffer crucifixion. That doesn't give your creed any special claim on the imagery.

What does this have to do with Islam? Apart from your rather sad obsession, that is.

And you still haven't explained what is "insulting" about this sculpture. Your creed must be pathetically weak if it is threatened by such a harmless artwork.

Two common types of crosses used in crucifixion were the "T" shape and the "t" shaped (Latin) cross. Humans hang on both in a similar fashion. In fact, there's no other way to suspend a human on either cross. Anyone crucified on either cross would hang the same way. We might as well contend that we're insulting Romans by implying that women were crucified.

Controversial Naked Woman on Cross sculpture displayed before Easter | National News | News.com.au

These god-botherers must spend a substantial part of their lives rooting around for things to be offended about. If it's not some cartoons it's a movie or a play... or a sculpture. What a sad bunch of tossers!

Seeing as it has been the most famous image of our faith for the last 2000 years, it kind of does son.

already explained, go back and read.
The sad obsession is a valid and perfectly true point, your just trying to dodge the truth here, but thats nothing unusual with Christ haters I guess.

Seeing as you must be ignorant on this, its insulting to Christians because it mocks Christ being on the cross, also the woman is very sexualised in her portrayal to further the insult, Ive already explained the pose before also.
If my creed was pathetically weak it wouldnt have lasted 2000 years would it?
Harmless artwork to you, very insulting to us.
Do you have as big a problem with Muslims being insulted, or is it just us Christians you have it in for?

"Our" refers to Electric Hermit and myself, since we appear to agree on this topic. I don't claim to speak for anyone else. That would be presumptuous and egotistical.

You're fully entitled to your perceptions, as are we. By introducing it as a debate topic you invite contrary opinions.

Nope, I'm all for insulting Islam or any other brand of theism when it's appropriate. The fact that Islamists have tried to get "blasphemy" considered an international crime makes me want to blaspheme even more.

Perhaps a Christian forum would have been a better venue, where you'd be assured of only agreement. Volconvo is not the place to post opinions that can't withstand criticism.
