The story of the receptionist facing the sack after her daughter talked about Jesus i

School Gate - Times Online - WBLG: The story of the receptionist facing the sack after her daughter talked about Jesus in class.....Is all as it seems?

Quote:
Now this is a strange one - and it's getting people very worked up over at the Daily Mail today. It's the story of Jennie Cain (who you can see in the picture). Her daughter was apparently reprimanded for talking about heaven and god with a friend. Young Jasmine apparently told her mother: "My teacher told me I couldn't talk about Jesus."

After Jasmine, aged 5, was told off, her mother emailed 10 close friends from her Church. However, the email was seen by the headteacher of the school which Jasmine attends and where she happens to work part-time: Landscore Primary, in Crediton, Devon. It's now claimed that Mrs Cain is being investigated for "Professional misconduct" for allegedly making claims against the school and its staff.
This is completely dumb IMO. This makes no sense how she can be reprimanded for 'Professional Misconduct'. How is this Misconduct?

Do you agree/disagree with her termination? Why or why not?

From that link:
"Mr Read told the BBC: "This is not an issue about Christianity, it is about religious intolerance. Jasmine told another pupil 'if you don't believe in God you're going to go to hell. The girl was upset and her teacher asked me for advice about what to do. Jasmine was told it is not OK to say that, but it is OK to discuss what you believe with others.""

I would consider such a statement to be rude, condescending, presumptuous and inappropriate in a school setting. I think the girl deserved correction.

Jennie Cain is the one being fired, not her school age daughter.

Using business email for personal issues is, more often than not, a disciplinary offence. Depending on how long the receptionist had been employed, or what her disciplinary record was, and the school could quite easily fire her.

Seems like there's hardly a week goes by without one of these contrived "Christians being persecuted" stories. One would almost think it was some kind of campaign.

The article says she sent the email from home. There is more to this story the article does not mention. However, I still think it's unfair that someone can be fired so easily, yet getting rid of Rod Blagojevich is so difficult.

Is she in the US or the UK? That would make a difference because of the different laws.

If in the US and in some states, people can be fired for no reason at all. I believe they're called 'no cause states'.

This was in the UK. Where we have been getting these pathetic "persecuted Christian" stories as if they are rolling off a production line.
