Its no different than saying 10*Breloginif * Feidreww, it has no meaning and thus Dr_A's argument and your support for his argument fail and would never be taught in school, let alone 5th grade math. The format may be correct, but the units are meaningless and at best, confusing.

Mathematics will solve anything that is put into an equation assuming that they are symbols which are equal to themselves. Bread is Bread, Fish is Fish. What is Fish? Doesn't matter to Mathematics. Coherence is not relevant. It may be relevant to giving the result of the equation any kind of meaning or interpretation (which I agree, has none), but it doesn't stop the formula of being solved. Of being simplyfied, actually, as you are barely solving anything. You don't need to know what a Fish or a Bread is, they are mere symbols, and it's not up maths to replace them with their actual meaning, and by saying 2*Fish * 5*Bread = 10*Fish*Bread I'm not doing it either, so I'm not exceeding the extents of maths.

Hmm... considering the size, wouldn't "nails" qualify more as "spikes?"

Also, if I remember right, sometimes less nails were used... more limbs tied. I suspect the less they used the more cruel the intent. You die less of blood loss/suffocation, more exposure to the elements and over eager creatures.

My understanding of the mechanics of crucifixion was that it was a death by suffocation. As a person hung on the cross they weakened and slumped down constricting the chest and making it harder to breath.
However the romans were a merciful lot and would often send someone along with a sledge hammer to smash the knees of the victim, thus hastening his death.
