| Favorite Bible Passages, Prayers or Psalms I just though with all the rediculous negativity in this forum perhaps some people who believe in God and aren't ashamed or afraid to, would like to share their favorite passage, prayer, or Psalm, and perhaps explain why. I will start with mine, which is self explainatory and I actually came across this one by accident while holding the bible crying and asking why I was in such a hard time. Hannahs Payer My heart rejoices in the Lord, in the lord my horn is lifted high, my mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance, there is no one holy like the Lord, there is no one besides you, there is no rock like our god, do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed, the bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumble are armed with strength, those who were full hire themselves out for food, and those who were hungry hunger no more, she who was baren has bore seven children, but she who has many sons pines away, the Lord brings death and makes alive,he brings down to the grave and rises up, the Lord sends poverty and wealth, he humbles and he exhaults, he raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap, he seats them with princes, and has them inheirit a throne of honor, for the foundations of the earth are the Lords, on it he has set the world,he will guard the feet of his Saints, but the wicked will be silenced in darkness,it is not byt strength that one prevails, those who opposse the Lord will be shattered. Saving the empovershed by empoverishing their counterparts will empoverish the whole. |

| Sure I'll play. Let's join these 3: PRO 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. ECC 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. 1CO 1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." Then lets go with: EXO 24:9,10; AMO 9:1; GEN 26:2; and JOH 14:9 God CAN be seen: "And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my backparts." (EXO 33:23) "And the Lord spake to Moses face to face, as a man speaketh to his friend." (EXO 33:11) "For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." (GEN 32:30) God CANNOT be seen: "No man hath seen God at any time." (JOH 1:18) "And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me and live." (EXO 33:20) "Whom no man hath seen nor can see." (1TIM 6:16) Christians don't know God anymore than you or I do. |

| Not a direct prayer but a part I've used: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall he able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38,39) Angel Quotes!: "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2 What do you say to an atheist who sneezes? | Well I'm not very religious, but I do have one favorite in the Bible "Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou?" Isaiah 45:9 I don't know why. It just sounds clever. | . . . not to have reality intrude on the situation, but this smacks of silliness. Nothing really bad can happen. The only thing to be scared of is that someone might break the rules and call you a name. And I would be surprised to see Christians who feel ashamed of believing in god. It seems to me as though you are trying to make yourself appear weaker and more oppressed than you actually are. Anyway: He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her. Act that your principle of action might safely be made a law for the whole world. - Immanuel Kant |

| I think that Jeremiah 17:9 is very profound... The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane. ~Mark Twain~ http://www.reformed.org/documents/index.html |

ironeagle, are you going to comment on these post? It appears to me, people are showing you why they do not accept the bible as a book of God. If you want agreement with them, then you need to acknowledge their objections, and give reason for believing the bible is a good book. Thomas Jefferson's favorite part of the bible was Jesus's Surmon on the Mount, I believe. He edited out all the things in the New Testament that didn't agree with science, and today we can buy his edited version of the New Testament. Jefferson and others of time highly valued the bible for its morals, and some of these are important to our liberty, so maybe we want to accept some of the bible?

| "...Would God I could die for thee, O Absalom my son..." -King David on learning of his son's death. What a beautiful picture of a father's intense and never-ending love for his child. Even though the young man whom David had invested his whole heart in spurned that investment to the point of attempting a military coup of Israel and Judah, HE LOVED HIM. With every atom of his being, he loved and adored his son. Sorrow can be a wondrous display of love. This bit of Scripture floored me. ..."Light up the Darkness" - Bob Marley... |

I wasn't trying to make the Bible look like it was endorsing something immoral. I think there are certainly situations in which a good child's-head-into-a-rock-dashing could be called for. And I would be remiss if I didn't say that I do understand that the author of the psalm (God if you prefer) was not endorsing the smashing of random children's heads into rocks. The writer of the poem was simply enraptured with anger at a man who had wronged him. Debate died with chivalry. - Darebirth

It's like asking people to tell about beautiful sights to see in NYC. A person who hates NYC is going to describe sights such a homeless bums, pollution, overbearing police, or standstill traffic. Some people just always seek out the negative and only wand a focus on the negative aspects of what they hate. What do you say to an atheist who sneezes? Yourdeadthatsit! - Dane Cook

| It's like this Helio. I visited Boston recently. I saw the beauty and I saw the homeless. Boston isnt for me. Maybe others like it? (they must..they live there) I like the country life. I'm not going to pretend I didn't see what I saw. In fact..I documented it. (pics are on my profile page) Doesn't mean I hate the place..just mean's it's not my cut of tea. Seriously...your broken record is getting annoying? Haven't you learned anything about atheist or do you only see what you want to see? It's like a person that loves their father, but they've blacked out the memories of how they were molested for many years. They just simply ignore the truth. Perhaps they are like battered wives. Christians don't know God anymore than you or I do. | |

| IDK what it is RC. But I will tell you what bothers the crap out of me about some religious folks. They are totally cool with me ..think I'm great...one of them..UNTIL I tell them I'm an atheist. Then I become a freak of nature. I'm no freak. I just see life in a different light. I seriously don't get it.
