Probably, mind over matter.
'Mind' is matter, as is demonstratable from how damage done to the brain impairs psychological activity.

Am I the only one slightly.... irritated that they went up to top 6, not top 5 religions, just so they could include Judaism? Seriously, if Judaism had been no 5, they wouldn't have bothered going up to 6 to include Sikhism. Really, a logical number to go up to was 10, but no, they only wanted to include the "biggies" which Judaism is ironically part of while Sikhism isn't. In any case, their is a FAR more detailed analysis of world adherance then that, at THIS SITE:Major Religions Ranked by Size
Ha, besides that, the site Techno mentioned mentions neither Juche or Chinese traditional religion, both of which are larger then Judaism.

Neither do I. But good try at pulling the typical atheist move of substituting your impressions of Christianity for actual Christianity.
Its not my impression. Its in the goddamm bible. It says if you dont believe in Jebus You are going to burn forever and be tortured and all that great stuff. Does it not?

Thats what every Christian says. I substitute my impressions based on the Christians impressions of Christianity. There is no such thing as "actual Christianity".

Your mind comes from your brain. Without your brain you have no mind.

You are right, I think the webpage you found is a better one, with more details.

However I acturally doubt if they know the numbers for some religions.

For example the New Age religion is made up of many of the other religions mentioned.

Some of the fastest growing ones are the nature based religions such as Wiccan, Native American, New Age, Shamanism, which religions also embrace Taosim (book of nature) into their fold. And Ufology is one of the last new religions and it is getting more popular.

However these do not fall under the same class as "organized religion" and so they do not have "memberships" that can be counted by such collectors of data. Being more for the sake of being spiritual rather then for promoting moral codes.

I find the diversity not only interesting but useful but I guess most people in this forum find it disturbing and cause for resentment.

I would rather wait to see if I offended someone before refraining.

Its just a word. Its a man-made word, just like 666 is a man made number and only scares people who are afraid of spooky superstitions.

It's the use of the word that offends people.

Raving mad atheists need to be locked up before they ruin society any further. There, I just used some words. Perfectly normal words. They shouldn't be offended and if you are then your just a silly sensitive atheist.

What do you say to an atheist who sneezes?

The major difference I see is that he insulted a book, you're insulting people. Nobody in particular, but it's still not a fair comparison.

There doesn't appear to be any functional difference.

And, as William James said, "A difference that doesn't matter is no difference."

I don't see Wicca as a religion, it is a world wide cult popular with jaded western youth, that celebrates evil.
And a stepping stone to harder evil like Satanism
Oh boy, where to start. Listen, Wicca doesn't celebrate evil. Wicca is somewhat of a way for people to get more in touch with nature. They beleive that everything in nature, while it does have a natural explanation, ultimatly has a purpose beyond us.

It can most closely be compared to the religion of the ancient Greeks. Every element of nature is explained through a more spiritual way than in science or even in Christianity.

Then you go on in your post to say that Wicca leads to things like Satanism. Okay, I'll take this step-by-step here.

Satanism is the worship of Satan. Satan is a CHRISTIAN concept. Wiccans are NOT Christians. Therefore, they don't beleive in Satan.

And before you make a response, I am not a Wiccan, but I do have Wiccan friends, so I do know some about that particular religion.

The vast majority of Christians are not theologians. They have very little accurate information of religions not their own, and sometimes not much knowledge of that. They also have incorrect notions about non-believers. So not knowing what Wicca is about shouldn't be too surprising.

Never less a book still held in great reverence by hundreds of millions of people, despite what Chris thinks of it.

So is the Koran. I don't see Christians worried about it getting any respect. Besides, is revering a book consistent with Christian teachings? Isn't that a violation of the "no other gods before me" prohibition?

To protestants: Are catholics going to hell along with the other 3883090448 people on earth who are not protestant christian?

Hell is being without God, atheists often say humans will just rot in the ground after death, well for them thats probably quite true, its the end of the road for them, because thats what they believe will happen.
Of course - According to the Bible, which is at all Times True.

Quote:
Surely those who're going to hell are those who live without repentence for their misdeeds.
Not necessarily. Those who are not Christian go to hell.
