Maybe it's just me, but I don't think you fight a group that continually raves about being persecuted by persecuting them...

Proving their paranoia reasonably correct doesn't help dismantle them. It strengthens them.

Don't give them reasons to act all self-righteous. They'll make up their own reasons.

Of all the asinine websites these folks could be hacking, they decide to waste their time and energy on Scientology?

Sorry, but I don't see anything good about this intolerance, and liken it to spray painting a swastika on a synagogue or any other hateful harassment. It seems like the trend is to jump on whatever is currently cool to hate--reminds me a lot of grammar school. I’m willing to bet that most of these hackers haven’t the slightest clue what Scientology is, or honestly don't care. They just see an opportunity to join their group in causing grief to another group, and that's how they get their rocks off.

I agree shawmutt. If anything, they're just rallying people to the defense of Scientology. This goes way beyond the previous attacks, like South Park, or how the media marginalizes them already. The best thing to do, is just ignore the Xenu (PBTH) lovers. Elevating Digg stories, and all that, is counter productive.

I'd like to thank Charlie Hodge, bringing me scarves and water.

I agree. Attacking this group's website site because you don't agree with them is harassment and will be used to justify their side. so any group you disagree with you attack? This is what the Nazi did in Germany. If you disagree with the Scientology post videos, create websites with facts about why you disagree with them, but don't act like a bunch of Nazis.

They aren't nice people. They're really are a form of terrorist having made bomb threats and such. They do things for "lulz" or laughs.

Scientologists aren't exactly nice people either...

I never said they were nice people, but the way you combat people you disagree with calls for some tack on your part. Just attacking their websites is not going to change anyone's mind about the group. But if you could document things they are doing (maybe website, video, book or audio) you might convince some people of what the group is doing.

By attacking them in this way you just make them the victim, and your drawing more sympathy for them.

Well, not exactly. Scientology is able to succeed to the extent that it does because of secrecy and silence. They have conspired in murder, theft and extortion, and they have very good lawyers to keep that from getting out. I would generally agree with you, thx, but this is a special case. The evils of Scientology need to be brought to light.

That's what I said, but just attacking their websites is not bring what they do to light. Look what happened when Jim Jones was exposed. The way he was exposed was by finding unhappy former member of the People's Temple and publishing interviews with them. If you can do the samething with this group of nuts you may help some people.

but again attacking their website is not changing members minds about the group.

You should promote this video to as many people as you can... this would turn people off from them.
Scientology: Steven Fishman Deposition - Part 1

I have to admit that after watching this video I'm starting to see the allure of Scientology.

I watched the video. The lure is the idea that you're not responsible for the bad things you do, and at the same time, that you can eventually become a god yourself...if you can shell out enough. The false hope of becoming a god is the oldest trick in the book: literally. And who wouldn't want to have past lives? Naturally, the Scientologist fortune tellers throw in a famous and/or well-liked person every once in a while so that you can walk around boasting to yourself that you used to be Jesus or Abraham Lincoln or whatever. Or even that you are currently Hannah Montana. Then when the wife wants you to go see "Cats" you can be like "sorry, don't do theaters".

People have also always liked to put their problems outside of themselves and personify them. They like to think that everyone who disagrees with them or doesn't like them as much as they would prefer is really a demon out to get them because they're just so dang good. And the problems they have in life are really the same kinda thing.

But if you read Fishman's testimony, he says that it will also make you schizophrenic and otherwise mentally unstable when you realize that it's impossible to ever be completely rid of body thetans. As if Hollywood wasn't screwed up enough as it is.

The thing is, Anon IS doing ALL of that.

Read more of the OP.

Even their hacking of their sites bring scientology to the public's attention.

Their declaration of war against scientology video has gotten almost 2 million views now.

This "war" is getting some innocent people caught up in it now.

Anti-Scientology agitators have repeatedly harassed and threatened violence against a 59-year-old PG&E worker and his wife, who were mistakenly flagged as pro-Scientology hackers.
John Lawson, who lives in Stockton, California with his wife Julia, began receiving threatening phone calls around 2 a.m. Saturday morning. He didn't know why until THREAT LEVEL explained that a hacking group calling itself the g00ns (goons spelled with zeros, not goons with the letter o) posted his home address, phone number and cell numbers, as well as Julia's Social Security number, online. The obscene and threatening calls have continued through Tuesday

Its not as if scientologists are some kind of poor pacifist victims here. A couple of comedians recently put up a spoof of those clips of Tom Cruise talking with the mission impossible theme music behind them. One of the websites the video was on was hacked and the video taken down, and the comedians recieved threatening emails. I've heard about these kinds of emails that the scientologists send out, and they contain personal information that is not readily accessible to the general public. Essentially, they stop just short of doing anything illegal, in order to avoid giving law enforcement any excuse to snoop around. The only difference between these hackers and the scientologists is that the hackers don't have a lawyer holding their leash.

It reminds me of Catholic outrage over a certain Irish musician's actions on Saturday Night Live (no, I don't mean Bono). I'm surrised she wasn't sued.
