Tonight A&E TV presents the movie Jesus Camp. I will ask my 10 year old to watch it with me.

Movie. Directors Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady take their cameras to pastor Becky Fischer's "Kids on Fire" camp where children as young as six are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in "God's army." We follow Levi, Rachael, Tory, and other children as they hone their "prophetic skills" and learn how to "take back America for Christ." This Academy Award-nominated film is a first-ever look at how born-again Christian children are being recruited and trained to become take part in American politics. (2006)

A very disturbing documentary. It won't be long after it airs until we start hearing the claims that "these aren't real Christians".

I was watching a documentary last night on the children fighters being recruited into armies in Africa and the Middle East. It was disgusting and saddening. Jesus Camp is no different.

How can reasonable people not perceive this as child abuse?

At the camp, Fischer stresses the need for children to purify themselves in order to be part of the "army of God." She strongly believes that children need to be in the forefront of turning America toward conservative Christian values. She also feels that Christians need to focus on training kids in religious warfare since "the enemy" are focused on training theirs."

The world is full of child abuse, like teaching them that homosexuality is just an 'alternate' (but acceptable) lifestyle or disallowing religious freedom in the classrooms or dispensing condoms without parental knowledge or consent or allowing access to vulgarity (including violence) in games and the media and, probably the worse, brainwashing them with deleterious propaganda such as evolution.

Child abuse is alive and well and most present in the non-traditional families.

The shift away from the family unit consisting of a father and mother is the greatest act of child abuse this world has ever faced. Even Hitler's programs designed to indoctrinate children into the Nazi party was less harmful than the secular 'anything goes' agenda being pushed today.

You should be so lucky as to have your children going to Jesus Camp. It would be much less harmful to them than their reading your pernicious copy of "Freethought Today" that you proudly place on your living room coffee table.

Oh, and yeah, you're right, they're NOT real Christians...but pretentious and shallow 'Christians' are STILL much better than the most devout and sincere atheists. Mmm... brainwashed dogmatic garbage sure is easy to completely ignore.

Jesus Camp is pretty messed up, mostly cus of the insane adults in it. A strong message of how even a "religion" which most people don't consider a "cult", is actually exactly the same as any cult, only more widespread and accepted. It's all brainwashing and indoctrinating succeptible minds into believing dogma that pits them against other human beings, makes them feel special, like they and only they have the one truth and must fight against others who are all wrong.

I made it through 20minutes. I can't watch any more. Isn't it obvious that no one was around at the creation to record the events as they happened? The evangelics take the bible literally. But, they go on making the Army for God because Muslims do it. And the cycle continues... I feel sorry for them. And here we are, not allowed to take a tube of toothpaste on an airplane.

I found it interesting when that one kid questioned his belief, and everyone stood there in silence, not knowing what to do with themselves. Almost as if the kid truely believed the world was made of cheese, once you get past the icy filling. They believe the bible as fact, and anything questioning fact, questions God. Dillsticks. I'm going to watch Star Trek now. I'm out!

What does this argument have to do with Jesus Camp?

[Yes, there are many forms of child abuse and the form of child abuse we are talking about is indoctrinating children to be superstitious.

Suggesting that Jesus Camp is the least worst form of child abuse has to be one of the weakest arguments I have ever seen.

It's sort of interesting that the director of the camp actually worked really hard to promote that movie. She felt it portrayed them accurately, and she wants it to be seen.
