![]() Volcanic Erupter Location: Oregon Posts: 5,172 | mixing religious and political icons A basic element of philosophy is distinguishing right from wrong. I can not think of anything that could more wrong at this time in history, than mixing political and religious icons. Saying God Bless America, rather then hoping God bless people wherever they are, and regardless of nationality is, offensive and should not tolerated. Putting a picture of Jesus (religious icon) and the flag of the United States (political icon) is completely intolerable! It is inflamatory and disrespectful of Jesus. If Christians want to sell Christianity with religous icons, I am okay with that, but mixing religous icons with political ones is something very different. The democratic/republic of the United States of America, is secular, not a theocracy. We have granted freedom of religion, and this goes with respecting this individual freedom. Associating one religion with the United States is a violation of freedom of religion. It is a direct message that the US is theocracy, intolerant of other religions, offending all the non Christians within the US, and inflaming war with Muslims. This should not be tolerated. I am sure Jesus would have objected to his picture representing Rome, and I am sure he would not want his picture representing the US. Can we maintain freedom of religion within some boundaries of decency? Wow, it is so repulsive for those who represent Jesus to lack any comprehension of good manners, and or understanding of the mechanism of peace and war. They are Satans tools aren't they? |

![]() Never mad Location: Hong Kong, China Posts: 1,877 | Well, you can't ban them from selling t-shirts, so what do you want? I think you might have a point, but we can't stop them from selling the shirts just 'cause we think they are dumb. They are dumb though. It's like God must be exasperated with casino's (just figurative). I mean, if everyone wants the perfect hand (house included) God just says "Bust Everybody!" (Bill Cosby) I mean, if God is called down on all sides of a fight, what can He do? The shirts are stupid to think God is for America as a whole (it would be nice to think He's for everyone, but...) Don't forget this is all in good fun! "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details." Albert Einstein "The devil is in the details" -? |
