![]() Volcanic Erupter Location: Oregon Posts: 5,172 | What really matters? As a woman, I have an idea about really matters, and I am not sure religions give us a good explanation of what that is. My thread Female Power and peace in Iraq is being ignored, so I thought I would try another aproach, and just ask people what they think really matters? As human beings what is the most important thing we achieve? |

| Molten Ash Posts: 53 | This is to me a question that analyzes cultural values. Its funny because the fact that this very question is being asked by an American is evidence of the fact that our culture here in America is very vague. We have to make something out of what we have found as immigrants. The land and the weather are the main factors in this. But universally as humans the most important fundamental thing I think is usually self preservation and reproduction as a way to pass the torch and keep it burning. |

We need to keep doing what we're doing. Whether we like it or not, war is apart of our species - it isn't going to go away until we figure out why disagreement causes hate. The advancements we make every minute of every day is getting us closer to something unknown - peace and happiness for all. It will come, humans are smart - and stupid - at the same time. Its the select few that invent technologies that become needs for the domestic version of a human - but soon, domestic will be natural; meaning everyone should be able to live a comfortable life and contribute to the human race as we head towards the most advanced thinkers in the universe. We are a young species, we have a lot to learn, we're on our way to something great. ![]() That is unless some idiot blows us all up :( This is my signature.

But my wildest guess would be discovery (something we've been pretty good at) and supporting each other (something we've been less good at) Don't forget this is all in good fun! "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details." Albert Einstein "The devil is in the details" -?

![]() Volcanic Erupter Location: Oregon Posts: 5,172 | Now that is some ambition! Whoo Hoo, I like that answer. We are all made in the image of the gods. What kind of god do you want to be? I also like the idea that we are here to discover and write peotry. Chardin said we are God's consciousness. The Greeks said we are made in the image of the God's because we can learn and reason, and create. |

![]() Volcanic Erupter Location: Oregon Posts: 5,172 | Hum, answering that takes a lot of thought. I have this sense that men defined our lives, and women were repressed and didn't have much say in things. I am not sure things are so different now. This whole thread began with my frustration with the war in Iraq. There is an ancient Greek play about women refusing to be pleasing to their men, until their men gave up warring. I would gladly casterate Bush and Cheney for taking us to war in Iraq, with so little concern for protecting the women and children! They did not go in to protect these people, and they are suffering terribly, while we sit undisturbed in our daily lives, arguing about what we should do next, while they are the ones suffering. Their lives have been ruined! Women forced to flee with their children are now forced into prostitition to keep their children alive, and their Muslim families would kill them if they knew what their daughters are doing to keep their children alive. We rarely hear women speak of the horrors of this war and what action they would take. We are talking about being happy, and a lot of fluff, while on the other side of the world, a mother's life is destroyed as she struggles to keep her child alive. What really matters, your paltry pleasures, or do we have some moral obligation to humanity at large? What is worth a war and the terrible suffering we have imposed on others, while we think of our "happiness" in the safety and abundance of our homes. |
