![]() Arbiter of Weird Location: New Hampshire Posts: 1,163 | Edgar Rice Burroughs was speaking the truth Forget little green men, Mars is filled with big green men called Tharks. It is also home to several other races, such as the red martians who are humanoid in appearance and frightful monstrosities such as the Kangaroo Men of Gooli and the parasitic Kaldanes. Futhermore, they are home to several advanced civilizations sustained by a network of canals. One can test this yourself. Acquire a telescope and gaze upon the wondrous sprawling agricultural network. Scientists have repeatedly mislabeled the ruined cities and festering marshes of Mars, or Barsoom as the natives call it, as mere rock formations or empty canals because of their unfamiliarity with Martian architecture. The signals from our probes have been doctored to show a barren and uninhabitable Mars. Were they to be accurate they would show an ongoing war between the red martian civilization and the Skeleton Men of Jupiter. To prevent Earthly intervention on behalf of our similar-looking protagonists the Jovians have been capturing our probes and carefully altering the readings. The truth must get out! The city of Helium must be saved! All I ask is that the citizens of Earth believe in me. The sheer psychic force of this belief will cause a deus ex machina plot intervention, saving the city. Seeing how it costs you nothing to believe me and I could be right, why not? Some would say that they don't have psychic powers, or that if Mars had an atmosphere it would leak away because of the low gravity or that it emits so little infrared it must be a freezing wasteland. How do you know? How certain are you that the laws of physics aren't different there? Have you ever been to Mars to make sure you don't have vast mental powers when on the red planet? How do you know one can't just synthesize air from light and generate all the atmosphere you need? Please, help them. I'm also offering a prize of one Martian flying battleship to the first person who can prove me wrong. Destroying America one Volconvo post at a time. For all you know Jovian agents wrote that, or stupid ignorant scientists who don't believe in Martians but are for some reason out to get those poor besieged Martians. Furthermore we've already established that the Mariner probes were captured by the Skeleton Men from Jupiter and the images were doctored. No Martian airship for you. Anyways, I don't beleive there is life in our solar system other than that which exists on our planet. Thank you, come again. This is my signature. |
