Why is the possibility that you're wrong any more slim than the possibility that, say, the Hindus are wrong? Or the ancient Egyptians are wrong? Or that you're *ALL* wrong? You've all got the same thing going for you: nothing.
That is because i belong to a religion. Haha, the advantages of being religious is that I can toss logic out the window every so often. I'm the Christian, your the Atheist.
But like I said. I give. Atheism isn't a belief.

Lester: Boy, you need something else outside of this.
    McNulty: Like what?
Lester: A life, Jimmy. You know what that is? It's the stuff that happens while you're waiting for moments that never come.

Of course atheism isn't a belief, that was never in serious contention, it's just something theists say to make them feel better about their own beliefs.

The question really is, why do you think it's alright for your religion to allow you to throw logic out the window in favor of an emotional ego boost that has nothing to do with reality?

There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Atheism doesn't require belief? Two men walk off a cliff. One believes he can fly and the other doesn't believe in gravity. Which act took more faith?

Belief is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise (argument) to be true without necessarily being able to adequately prove their main contention to other people who may or may not agree.

If an atheist says gravity exists but was never schooled in science does he believe gravity exists? Or does an atheist always substitute the word belief with support or another term.

What do you say to an atheist who sneezes?

And the atheist doesn't walk off the cliff at all because he's not crazy.

    You had a point?

Life is walking off the cliff. The atheist is still taking a leap of faith in choosing to believe as he does. It doesn't matter whether the reasoning is affirmative or negative. Everyone walks off the cliff. The atheist just chooses to do so without a glider.

I'd much rather walk off the cliff accepting the reality of the cliff and the consequences that comes with such an action than believing in a comforting lie that might make you feel better until you crash to the rocks below.

You're advocating lying to yourself because it makes you feel better than facing reality. That's pathetic.

Not really. You think it's a lie. Doesn't mean I do.

The Hindu doesn't think Vishnu is a lie either, how do you reconcile that? Muslims think christians are crazy for believing in a triune god, what makes their thoughts a lie and yours isn't?

Was that really the point? The point was about belief. We already know that the Hindus and Muslims acknowledge their belief.
