God - FAR more evil than Satan

Quote:
It's impossible to say for sure, but plently. How many did God drown in the flood or burn to death in Sodom and Gomorrah? How many first-born Egyptians did he kill? There's just no way to count them all.

But sometimes the Bible tells us exactly how many were killed by God. Here's a list of those that I can find. (If you find any that I've missed, let me know and I'll add them to the list.)

So far I come up with a total of 2,270,365 (not inlcuding, at least in some cases, women and children).
This site...

gospeakit.com - Bible Body Count

... goes on to give a break down of the 2.2 MILLION people god has allegedly murdered.

How can Satan compare to numbers like that? Good thing both god and satan are fictional.

This really made me ponder.
I'll have to read into that.

I like that point, although it only applies to those who actually despise Satan opposed to simply seeing him as the thing who represents bad things.

Satanists are more righteous than Christians! :O

Not to mention, Satan is a puppet created BY God. Not only is God setting up the rules and the place for eternal punishment, he created Satan knowing precisely what Satan would do. He attended for it to happen. He then, like Zhavric mentions, murders innocent babies and millions of his own creations as if he were surprised that his omniscience REALLY was correct.

Honestly... what can Satan do to compare with that sort of body count?

He defied God. Which means... holy hell (no pun intended), all atheists (I'm an atheist) are going to hell! But now that I think of it, that doesn't seem too bad.

Lol, definitely. God scares the crap out of me.. Satan seems like an alright guy. Not to mention all of my favorite people are going to be in Hell.

(I'm half-kidding, half-serious with the above)

I agree. Satan seems kinda average. Not like the "perfect" God. Me and Satan are gonna have some hard ass parties. Hahaha.

Alright, to be honest, the above only applies if the Christian religion is true (which I truely doubt).

Lucifer's a nice fellow, I met him on highway 61 a couple weeks ago. Contrary to popular belief he is not red and does not have a tail. In fact, he is a white man, he has blue eyes, and looks oddly similar to Ronald Reagan, but has George Bush's hair. Coincidence? I think not.

Haha but really, has Satan ever killed anyone? Are there any biblical references to anthing terrible he's done (besides defy God)?

Upon viewing the site, you'll find that the list only accounts for that which the Bible has given actual numbers. That which is vague is not tallied for the body count, but they still must be a TON.

I attend a bible study group as one of my more weekly social club haunts.

Just last week we were going over a passage about Noah and the ark. And there was the idea going around that god was merciful in this scenario, for letting noah+family live, even though the flood killed all other existing humans/animals on the planet.

the reasoning was somehwhere along the line that: since god made man, it's his right to unmake man. thus, it was merciful of god to make the decision that he would allow humankind to continue via Noah.

anyway, has anyone here read Paradise Lost? I thought satan was adorable, in a immatureishly sexy sort of way. I pictured christ as the shy/quiet/cute/clean/in-the-corner sibling. and god was the single-parent father, trying to manage an overflowing household.

rambling. 100th post yay!

Sin is salvation. Without "sin" there wouldn't be a concept for "purity" and without a concept of "purity" one wouldn't be able to enter "heaven."

The comparison should be God vs. lack of God(evil). Not God vs. one evil being(Satan). Satan doesn't have the power to kill. Evil has killed millions upon millions of people.

The chemical functions that spark urges in people to commit acts we now deem as evil, or in your bizarre twisted cop-out excuse for God.. "lack of God", IS created by God.

To add to the list.. the millions of people that die of natural disasters.

Mortality is a supposedly a punishment for Eden. In affect the devil is indirectly responsible for tricking Adam and Eve and causing the deaths of everyone else not directly attributed to God through mortality.

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

Quotes from Satan, taken from the 1999 movie"The End Of Days":

Satan: Something good happens, "It's His will." Something bad happens, "He moves in mysterious ways."

Satan: Let me tell you something about Him. He is the biggest underachiever of all time. He just has a good publicist, that's all.

Of all the films that feature the devil as a character you chose that one...

The comparison is whatever I care to make it

Seriously, though... The reason I chose Satan is Christians generally agree god is good and worthy of worship while Satan is evil and worthy only of contempt. But god has murdered well over 2.2 million human beings while Satan has done what exactly? What could he have done to compare to wiping out the population of a large U.S. state?

Chaossaber,

Did Man become mortal when he ate the fruit, or was mortality God's punishment for disobeying?
