Are humans a dumb ass species we have the ablity to get knwledge but not the wisdom to use it
for example with all our techno-scientific wiz band knwldege the earth is on the verge of ruin enviromentally

our scientists have the knowledge to spilt the atom but we are on the verge of countries nuking each other
our medical experimenter can cut the DNA but know we are mixing animal DNA with humans and breeding these hybrid embryos

all in all the march of scientific etc progress is only sending us to potential ruin as a speces and planet is that because we realy are a dumb ass species

Based on what ideal? What standard do you measure us against?

Unless you devise a means to give humans perfect foreknowledge, all our discoveries and inventions go through a phase where we try to figure out how best to use this new thing and what negative effects it may have. It may take us a while to uncover the potential uses and abuses. We are imperfect beings, incapable of producing perfection. In many contexts we aren't even agreed on what the perfect is.

What alternative can you suggest? Should we stop innovating? Should we all become Luddites? Electricity kills hundreds of people every month. Should we abandon electricity?

I would suggest we're not exactly a dumb-ass species, we're just not perfectly smart. We're fallible, we make mistakes, then we try harder the next time not to repeat our mistakes. Sometimes we get it right, sometimes we don't. Regardless of how you perceive humanity, we're the only humanity we've got. If you desire perfection, you'll need to search elsewhere.

well there are many religous myths ir grek prometheus the tower of babel etc which warns of man trying to ape the gods and the ruin that he will reap if he tries to become god-like ie aquire god-like knowledge with out the wisdom to use it

religions have warned of this since the begining of time and now it seems there warnings are comming to pass -becaus ewe are a dumb ass specises without the wisdom to use our knowldege as the myths and religions have said
so now we are on the verge of enviromental generic and cultural ruin

1.) Why does everyone always think it was an apple?

2.) Why does everyone always leave off the other part of the name of the tree? It really changes the meaning, you know.

Those dumb ass myth makers are still churning myths. You would need at least a little wisdom to know or identify a dumb ass myth maker wouldn't you?

Who claims the myth makers had the wisdom to see the end of knowledge.

I think it is more of a case that the myth makers want to suppress wisdom and knowledge by making sheeple out of potential humans.

And the ones who wrote those myths were not human? And out of every invention that can cause great harm (for example the A-bomb), often much more good comes out of it (nuclear power). Or if you are not a big fan of nuclear powerplants then the sword is a good example too. (knifes for making food/ axes for cutting trees, and swords for killing).

Take away all inventions that could possibly cause harm and we would be nowhere, still living like apes.

We might, but we might just end up as godlike beings.. or what we today would percive as that. Anyway its in the nature of man to not settle for what he has, which is exactly the reason why we are dominant on this earth. If we dident invent stuff we would probably be long extinct either way. Even apes uses sticks and rocks as tools.

It might be safer to just not invent stuff anymore and settle, and if we where an immortal species we might do just that. But we are not, we will all die anyway, so what have we got to loose?

I disagree, we bacame extremely succesful long before we became technological. we spread to a few more regions afterward, but for the most part we were just as widespread as we were before civilisation.
