Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. -- Song 8:6

Regarding god(s), however, I feel we know very little, if anything. I prefer not to ascribe characteristics based on speculation. If such beings wanted us to believe specific things about them, they would not need to depend upon unreliable prophets. Since no gods choose to communicate with us in such a way as to impart details about them, in a way in which we will believe without doubt, then they clearly are not interested in having us possess such beliefs without doubt. 'I don't know' seems like a great answer to me. Do all things with love.

If you do not know, or believe there is nothing, then this lifetime has much greater value. On the other hand, if you knew paradise awaited you, it would take away much of the motivation to stick around when times got bad. If God wants us to find him through vague clues, then he must know that people will reach multiple mutually exclusive conclusions about him - meaning he doesn't really want us to find him - at least not with any certainty. Do all things with love.

| BANNED Posts: 701 | My "problem" is I follow the teachings of Jesus Quote:
'Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples, saying: 'The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. Therefore whatever they tell to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders, but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, "Rabbi, Rabbi". But you, do not be called "Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father, for One is your Father, he who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ." Non-Christians are of course free to think whatever they like about Christian terms but without knowing the religious concepts behind the terms they don't know what they are talking about.

The Jews had been expecting a warrior Messiah, thus rejecting Jay. Mo said, "That's me, that's me!" I wonder why he couldn't be their Messiah, either? My faith is stirred but never shaken.
