What would you do with the power of creation?

The question is simple: what if, one day, you woke up to find in yourself the power of creation? Note that you won't have power over the current creations with which you reside, mind you, but over the new ones you create if you wish it to be so.

Think of this as a fun philosphical thought experiment, because that's what it is

Aren't you describing the thrill we felt as kids making something out of Legos or Lincoln Logs, the same feeling we get now from writing a program that actually works? We do get lots of chances to be creators. Obviously not on as grand a scale as ascribed to gods, but on a scale we can still appreciate and enjoy. Parents are creators on several levels.

Alright, let me put it this way:

You have the power to create a microcosm in which you define the laws, the parameters, or the very meaning/mechanisms of life itself beneath you. Would you view it as an oppurtunity to give meaning to something that didn't exist before, or a game? Would you take your duty seriously, or would the "lesser" nature of what you are creating less impact you?

I want to know what your personality would translate into if you yourself became a God, in other words, as well as other creator personalities that could possibly exist or emerge.

Maybe id just create a superior race. Like human but better, more intelligent and peacefull.

Or just do some kind of cool looking animal or plant, like a three headed monkey with wings and built in parking lights.

Or both :)

What duty do I have? I got a universe to run, so make it snappy.

Not only parents, every living being keeps on creating some thing or the other thing during their entire life period, depending on their likings at a particular point of time. Hobbies are there in which one usually keep itself busy. But then, keeping on doing only one particular thing would also become boring. Therefore, alternative choices are also to be there for change over.

It was in this pretext, few months back I opened a thread "Ultimate purpose of life!!" My own coclusion was to remain happy, peaceful and satisfied!!!!:)

In case I get Godship, I would only remove death and keep aging upto middle age only ( say 50 years and no further old age) from the current scene, rest is perfectly O.K with me. In other words, according to new system after say 50 years of age people would start looking year after year like 49, 48, 47---->1 year. Then again 2, 3, 4,5 ----->50 years, so on and so forth. But what other problems would come up in this new created system I would have to watch out for few thousand years. May be I may opt to revert to current system only or modify as per that time need!!!

Both intelligence and peaceful are relative and therefore such parameters can never be specified and demarkated as absolute!!!

This would be one time affair, would you keep on creating such joker like things for ever!!!:)

Means you want to stick to present system of affairs existing in the universe only and do not want to interfere by introducing a modification such as suggested by me above or othewise something else!!

I would make my creation do everything I never did.

Modify, but... I should smite you for insolence. The very idea you imply what I create is not perfect, is heresy. Heresy I say! I demand some prayers, immediately. And no bacon on Sundays from now on.

Slightly off-topic, but relevant...

Ever read Lucifer comics?

It's in the same universe as The Sandman.

I bring it up here because in the course of the story, Lucifer gets his own creation parallel to the original one. He makes it just like our own world and creates a garden of eden with two humans in it. He gives them one decree: They're not allowed to worship or bow down to anything, including himself (Lucifer). It's an interesting twist when one of god's angels shows up as a serpent and tempts the humans into worshipping.

Lucifer ends up destroying the two humans for breaking his rule. Later on, he creates more humans and they make vast civilizations under the same rule: none of them are allowed to worship. Lucifer also opens up portals all over the place so that humans from the original creation can come and join his creation.

I imagine I'd do something very similar.

I'd create an endless universe full of wonder and make human beings energy-based instead of carbon based. I would give them free will, but eliminate suffering. They'd be capable of understanding and feeling the breath of human emotions, but they'd be creatures of nearly pure thought capable of traveling to any point in my universe instantaneously. (None of this trapped on one planet retardation...)

Instead of being tied to the existence of evil / suffering, free will would be tied to procreation. Human beings would need to seek me out and ask me to make another human being for them to raise & shape on their own. Those who don't like me / don't choose me would be free to go about their endless existences as they wish. They can even hate me and curse me and spite me. I care not: They simply cannot have children.

Oh, and all humans would have the ability to telepathically link to all other humans and communicate wordlessly regardless of distance. None of this language barrier sillyness.

I wonder! Do you really mean what you wrote above!

Somehow, I do/can not think you mean what you wrote. For example your first sentence "I should smite you for insolence" using synonyms it reads as "I should cut you for disrespect"

Under the circumstances, I would request you to cool down or really pray if you have not already done before reading further:

In your normal mood please re-read my post in response to your previous post and find in what way I disrespected you !!!! I would love to know and aplogize if it is done in anyway even un-intensionally.:)

I do not see any disrespect in my post. It fact, my mind never disrespects even my enemy what to speak of a forum member, like you. I feel you have some mis-understanding with my reply. What I felt while writing that you are satisfied with the current system of universe fuctioning and do not want to change/modify it in any further. I never said you have made an imperfect universe. The basic question of the thread is if you get the power of creation what would do! Meaning what would you creat???

It's not serious. But anything I create would not need to be modified, because it's perfect. To modify, would imply I created less than perfection.

I have it.

I play the Sims2, SimCity4 Rush Hour whenever I feel like exploiting it.
This is pixelized creationism.

I also have a penis, which is one part of the two part equation for human creationism. The second part comes and goes, haven't found a good second part for life yet.

I also make create things all the time from metal, wood, synthetic materials, natural materials. Simple and Complex machines are great.

Creationism from cloning is happening now in plants, animals, and even humans at the cellular level.

Creationism is better than stagnation I suppose, isn't it?

P.S.
I was philosophical, and thought to create this post, so I expect credit for the assignment.

The game "Black & White" was pretty good. Your power as God came from people worshiping you. To assist in this, you raise a giant creature which can cast spells and eat people.
