Hahahahahaha.... What do you expect from a source called "washingtonpost"? Unless you can show me those lines actually exist in Saudi text books, I have to say your source is untrue.

Therefore, I do admit that the reaction from the Islamic world was violent and disgusting. However, that is not an excuse to forget who started this whole controversy. Pope Benedict the 16th... He had claimed that his words were taken out of context and he was merely quoting. A poor attempt to redeem himself... 1. He quoted a Byzantine emperor who was losing Constantinople to the Muslims at that point of time. Thus, his anti-Islamic statements only revealed more about his personal frustration and bitterness.... 2. The Pope was quoting a Christian emperor who was involved in a battle with Muslims; he was not an 'established historian'.... 3. Even if Saudi textbooks do indoctrinate children with such hateful messages, which I strongly condemn, you can not deny that Muslims do not insult other religions publicly. It's a pity I can't say the same about Danish cartoonist or the Pope... Finally, who was Mohammed (saw)? The most successful Prophet of all time (according to Encyclopedia Britannica). The man who not only spiritually but physically established the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth... Who is Pope Benedict? The leader of all Catholics, who was schooled in Nazi Youth League when he was young... It is right to say, Pope has quite a big mouth to insult the Greatest Prophet Monotheism had to offer. |

I doubt he would be purposefully insulting islam a few weeks before he was supposed to meet in a muslim country. And, by the way, almost all young germans were in the Nazi youth, and he later deserted. Can you find a quote from that speech in which he insulted Islam in his own words? “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.” -Albert Einstein |

He is the main figure head of the "Roman Catholic" Religion, and I will admit he didn't start off the smoothest, but he's still doing a good job. You are jumping to the conclusion that he was insulting the greatest prophet. Everybody who was offended all focus on that one sentence that he quoted by someone else, rather then to see what his whole message was suppose to be about. If he was directly insulting and he was backing the quote, don't you think he would have stood by it? I read, nor heard anything relating him to directly attacking the religion. As I said, those who were deeply offended and freaked out about the quote, seriously have to get a grip and lighten up. If you want a true insult on Islam or Christianity, I'm sure I could think of something a lot more offensive.

Litteraly every word out of his mouth is not expected to be infallible. By the way, this has only been used two times in the modern era, both incidences applied to relatively unimportant doctrinal disputes about the nature of mary. “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.” -Albert Einstein |

He is by no means considered not a sinner, he's a human. “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.” -Albert Einstein |

| Altruism Assassin Location: Massachusetts Posts: 5,260 | The Vatican website says that after the Pope makes one of these statements along with the global council of bishops (Magisterium) it is unquestionable, until, of course, another pope and the magisterium reverse or change the dogma. I mind you that the Magisterium is supposed to be the real head of the Catholic Church, the Pope is its head who gets around having to call bishops from all over the world for every incident. We're off topic, so you can see the website if you want to know more, it has a cool search engine of all the archives. “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.” -Albert Einstein |
