If athiests believe there is no God then why do they care so much about religion, they clearly know more about scripture than most christians. I just dont understand the point in constantly talking about God if you dont believe in him. its like athiests are just athiests for attention or something.
Because as a child brought up in church it was used to terrorize me into submission. I belive god is santa claus for adult, mearly a means to get sheeple to behave. But i was never introduced to santa, they took me straight to 'jesus'. As a child i was made to believed coutless times that i would be burned alive in hell for etternity becasue of the little sins i was caught commiting,and tears as well as telling myself i was a horrible person we the way to remidy that. i wasnt aloud to do anything that brought me happiness and i was forced to listen to a preacher 4 times a week who didnt know what he was talking about. My dad threw me out of the house at the age of 9 because i made the mistake of saying i didnt believe in jesus. I was emotionally made unstable and i believe that my childhood was stolen by religious tools, who cant see past there own denial of truths hitting them in the face every day. I was told to make it to heaven with god i must love and obey god, but if i didnt he would send me to hell. So my creator gave me 2 choices, 1 obviously better than the other, why wouldnt i want to go to heaven, tis a beautiful place. But something about worshipping god for eternity makes it sound almost as bad as burning for eternity. i mean, im alive for ever, and i dont do anything productive or worthwhile with it, i just praise god for being such a...great guy. and if i dont praise the great guy, the great guy burns me. makes me just want to fall in love with god right now. what it makes me want, is wish id never been born

The property of human being having an inquistive mind makes atheists more caring for the religion than theists whose minds are weak and are overpowered by various religious sayings and faiths transmitted from generation to generation.

@Kuldeep

That's a rather sweeping generalization that is disproven by reading posts here on Volconvo.

You have atheists who are incredibly close-minded and uncaring, and you have theists who are more understanding of why someone chooses atheism.

There are extremes on both sides.

Extremities are always neglected while generalising any situation. As far as stasistical methods goes we go by the average and root mean deviation techniques or, simply by trend in common term.

But then you could easily argue that the average atheist or theist is someone who is generally open of other's beliefs.

I grew up thinking it was wrong to argue religion and avoided doing so. Then we attacked Iraq.

Since adding God to the Pledge of Allegiance, the US has blatantly used religion to pit the US against other countries. Christians should demand their belief in God be removed from nationalists proganada and the teachings of Jesus, or being a follower of Jesus, should never, ever be used to justify war.

I think we need a thread for discussing the wrongs of religion, and let religious people defend against preceived evils of religion.
