People who get hung up on all of this b s around slogans and Christmas greetings, should get a life. If I don't like or agree with something, I merely ignore it. I don't wish non christians a Merry Christmas unless I know they celebrate the holiday. Neither am I offended if someone wishes me a Happy Chunnaka. It doesn't make me think someone is trying to convert me to Judaism.

As far as the dolls, the Military is part of the government, and as such, should not be endorsing religious figures or holidays.

My problem is that the US government is tacitly endorsing a religious holiday by declaring it as such and paying employees to take the day off.

    Here is a poll:

    Agnosticism / Atheism Poll Results

53% of those polled think Christmas should not be a government holiday.

43% think it should be a government holiday.

When the government officially sanctions a religious holiday, then perhaps it is transgressing the Constitutional separation of Church and State as enumerated in the 1st Amendment. Now here is something to debate rather than the mere words and greetings of individuals.

I believe Christmas as we know it today is the result of capitalism and marketing, all of the Santa's Elev's Deer and all of that bs are just bs made by corporation intended to sell products.

But threason behind christmas it the birth of christ.

So it is possible to support (believe in, or whatever you want to call it) the 'corporate christmas' and buy gifts. While not attaching any (direct) religous value to it, because although the corporate christmas has christian undertones. It does not hoewever focus (directly, for the most of it) on religous aspects of it.

It is also possible to support both, or just to support juat the religous interpretation.

I think its GREAT they were turned down.

Toys for Tots doesn't just give gifts to "christian kids", so they shouldn't be handing out propaganda dolls for Christian churches.
As long as they also turn down dolls of Mohammed (not that there would ever be one since Islam doesn't believe in making pictures/images of Mohammed), Buddha, Vishnu, and other religious entities, it was entirely appropriate for them to reject the Bible character dolls. But it is NOT acceptable for them to deny such dolls from one group (Christians) while accepting them from other groups (e.g. Buddhists or Hindus).

Of course, we could be really American and call it Commerce Day like they did in an old movie of which I can't remember the name.

Christmas is a Christian holiday. Saturnalia is a pagan holiday. If you want to celebrate a pagan holiday, call it what it is. Don't call it Christmas.
Lol, that's exactly my point. Christians celebrate Saturnalia, but they call it Christmas!

Chancellor, I would be equally outraged by if they agreed to pass out Budda dolls, Allah dolls, Jesus dolls..... and yes, even athiest dolls.

Commerce Day, I stopped celebrating a long time ago, as well as all the other hallmark holidays.

most of the time cristmas is celebrated by tradition than by religion so its comon that people from other religions celebrate cristmas. though i do belive its absurd to reject such a generous donation.

Yeah, an evil snowman action figure that talks - it raps "chill out".

And a happy sun action figure that sings "I am your sunshine, your only sunshine, I'll make you happy when you are sad ...... werrrrrruggg ... your battery is low...

Wow, next year I will have to get busy and sell sell sell, perhaps if I donate them to a church toy drive and get turned down I can make news and that is good advertising - right?

I will make a tiny solor system with the earth going around the sun, and when you activate the motion it will play the song "It's a small world".

I might evern make a talking Christmas tree toy - "Hug Me" plush toy.

Gosh, you got me all excited about all the new toy ideas I can up with for the next Solar-mass celebration.

I think it's gay to be giving dolls to soldiers in Iraq anyway. They might play with a G.I. Joe or something like that, but I bet they would never play with a Jesus action figure.

They'd probably just hand them all out to those cute little muslim kids. Except the ones wearing dynamite.
"Sorry kid. You want to be a suicide bomber? No Jesus action figure for you."

Your post was just plain stupid! The United States Marine Corps has a toy drive every year in order to collect toys to give to - now pay attention - CHILDREN.
