However, in Plato's Republic, it is suggested some humans are far superior to others, and that good breeding would increase their numbers, and that defective infants should be exposed to the elements and allowed to die. It is held that these superiors are best fit to rule over the masses. This is not democracy. A democracy holds that all are born equal. " Democracy is away of life and social organization which above all others is sensitive to the dignity and worth of the individual human personality, affirming the fundamental moral and political equality of all men and recognizing no barriers of race, religion, or circumstance." Congress on Education for Democracy, 1939. Some see an association between Socrates and Plato's, Republic, and Nazi, Germany. That is because of the concept of some being superior to others, and that is a good thing to kill, to elemenate the inferiors, from society. Our democracy strongly opposed such an idea, but sadly we no longer remember that for which we stand, nor clearly understand that which we defended our democracy against. I think some who post here, would be fit for Nazi, Germany, and this is a good thing, as it gives us plenty to debate. I think I have said often enough that, we have educated for this since 1958. Espeically as we gained understanding of reproduction and genes determining much about our bodies and even our intellectual apttitude, talents and interest, doctors in the US in the 30'tys who were learning of such science, speculated with this knowledge, we could element those defective humans from our society. The big difference between the US and Germany at that time, is the US was educating for democracy, while Germany was promoting the idea that they were racially superior people, and it was a good thing to elemenate the inferiors. Now my friends, many those of you who insist we are not democracy, speak up. And may those who think there is a moral wrong in discriminating against others because of their physical qualities, race, religion, or social status, speak up. This has everything to do with why we have public education, and the enemy of our democracy is clearly within, and far more threatening than any enemy overseas. Dawn falls Eve. Enlightenment falls the darkness. |
