| 99 Red Balloons Location: Washington DC Posts: 274 | Completely ignoring Rick's blurb.... Well, with no God in mind, i still believe life "matters." The concept of mattering, if you think about it, is completely subject to the person: Your grandmother dieing matters to you (for the sake of argument) but doesnt matter to me. Life, on the other hand, is somewhat universal. So yeah, it matters to all humans because it concerns all humans. If you are relating it in comparison to the entire universe and whether we will make an effect on it, mehhhh it think not. But hey, thats just me. But, then again, if you only care in relating us to the entire universe, you must at least think somewhat highely of humans if you have a yearning hope for them to be great among the cosmos. Thus, by default, you care about human s and thus life matters. That was a nice little loophole rested on the assumption that you are asking the question because you care about the outcome. ![]() |

My answers to the questions posed are: Yes, it matters to every living being! Quote:

| Molten Ash Posts: 51 | Life is alot like an exam we must complete! When you are performing an exam in school do you really care about it? Of course you do!!! Its the same concept here, as a Muslim there are 2 parts to my religion, Worship, and Life. To be a complete Muslim I must complete the second half which is live my life to the absolute fullest, enjoy what is around me through the permission of God! Although, we can also say that when you would die life would obviously not matter, we are here for 80 years, we endure through so much humanitarian suffering and emotional distress so can we really say life matters when we die? I like to think that life is just the first part of existence, its the beginning of a complicated journey to wherever the will of God wants you to be. "To fear death is an insult to life" |

I'm sorry you are so set against being a Christian, but that may change. I have been driven to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. |

My life does not matter to me. I care more about the life of one who has yet to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior, than mine. I didn't make up a story, the Bible has been around a lot longer than me. I have been driven to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go.

If hard work and sacrifice is actually the route to the better life, all of you are damned. The only difficulties you ever face are those that you say do not matter: pains of the body, the mockery of the ignorant and deluded like myself. If you are above that, then it does not make you suffer -- and if you do not suffer, then how will you get into paradise? "Would you like some pie, Dr. Stark?" "Science is my pie. | Moral Turnip Location: Oregon, US Posts: 2,283 | Yes, it matters to me. And perhaps my dream is the one you live in, which means that my perception that life matters is the only one you need to hear. Or perhaps we are living your dream, and really I am your own voice speaking to you -- in which case, my perception that life matters (which is your perception) is the only one you need to hear. So fear not: life matters. Only if the world stops doing one or the other. What we are here for is to learn what we are here for, so if we remembered, we would be lost. We give it to ourselves, and so nobody else can answer that question for you. Yes. Yes. Yes. Next in my life is death, an experience I admit some curiosity about. I won't say I'm looking forward to it, but I hope to enjoy it when it is here. I don't think life was created, I think life made itself, and continues to do so, every moment of every day. Only our will to survive keeps us alive at any given moment, and the same could be said for each individual life in any form -- so every moment that life continues is another instance of life creating another moment for itself, of us creating ourselves as living beings, just for this moment. I think life is just that: will. The will not to fall into nothingness. And when we grow tired of the struggle, we allow ourselves to slip away; and perhaps when we are in the nothingness, we will have to struggle every moment of every day not to be reborn, and perhaps we will question why we are dead, and what the purpose of our death is, and perhaps we will fear the life that may come after death. | don't care Location: NY Posts: 267 | To me yes, to others no. The matter of my life is to finish my goals I've established for myself. I'm only 15 and I want to solve world hunger, stop darfur, and other things. I'm unfortunately sucking at it. I save a dollar for the lunch money my dad gives me so maybe I'll be able to buy filters and send them to poor countries. I can't convince people on many points, I currently feel like a piece of shit because no one listens and I'm called an idiot. People's opinions are hard to deal with but I deal with that shit because it will always happen. Thats part of lfie for me. I hate the world and I hate people. The purpose of life is to fulfill the goals you've set for yourself. I'm just a fool caught in the rat race of life (Nathan Struth) please help me solve world hunger, It's hard to do it alone. |

Life exists because life in it's entirety is the only true form and application of the test of faith. My reasoning is that life does not need in it's foundation the ability to have faith or doubt or belief, these are things easily replaced in nature by calculation and risk assesment. The application of life allows for the application of death, however the later is a form fitting for the state before life as well, life began prior to my death, neither is a true state, the later simply being another step (or test for those theists) the tools and question given to me in the form of the evidence that life exists with the ability for me to doubt the reasoning and rationality of god, within this universe it is possible for me to begin to doubt. The possibility of doubt is another piece of evidence to the existance of a test where the answer is provided all I must do is hold onto the belief of that answer through the duration of the test. The evidence of that belief and answer was given to me in a form other then one I can measure during the test, the ability to remember the answer in a form I can repeat during the test does not exist, nor can it be presented or shown to any one else also doing the same test. All I can say is your answer is there, it is some thing you held onto before you could form words, but you never knew what it was you held onto for it was never some thing your arms could embrace. I believe there are others who know of these words. Deist: 38% Scientist: 29% Debator: 15% Mathematician: 19%

If nobody listens to you, tell them again. And again. Change your words, change your assumptions, listen to what points they make, and then come back at them. Everybody who argues on here, everybody in life, has had their opinions slapped down a hundred times for every time they've been listened to. Learn from it and try again. If you're sucking at it now, that means you can improve -- and that means you can win. No retreat, no surrender. Struth. "Would you like some pie, Dr. Stark?" "Science is my pie. | Sedimentary Rock Posts: 4 | To be honest I don't know why we're here for. I see no purpose in being brought into this world. No I don't think my life means anything, but I do have morals. I don't think life ends the day I die. Just because I die doesn't mean the world stops spinning. I believe my life will end when I die. As a person I think life is given so you can find happiness. |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 7 | This is what you should know! what is better nothing or something? does something go anywhere? does nothing do something? Is nothing good or bad? Right that is why we are here because we are part of something and it is good. There is not good or bad, or it does not go anywhere if there is nothing? Just think deeply about what is nothing!?? Scared?? Yes, nothing is just nothing and we are very lucky that we are part of something! We are here because we are very important and we all have a mission in this world and we have to find out! If you want to find out just ask the one that knows you more than anyone and that is GOD. Did we create ourselves? No, the wisdom of the Almighty knew that nothing was not good and something was good so he created us. We are the ones that make that something good or bad because he wanted to create individuals independent so they would do good. We have decided to do bad because of what ?? just think about it? we have created money and needs??? This is why we fight everyday and we kill each other!! But, we have made our life miserable!! We have created this system so some people can have advantage of others and the ones that have power be owners of the ones that have no power! We create slaves, poor, rich, middle class. We have created kings and idols, so it is our fault to suffer or no! God did good but we have turned it into bad! That is why he is pissed but still he has done a way to safe all that want to do good and listen to him! We want everything easy but we do not realize that our selfishness is the one that makes it hard! Just think about it? If we do what God wants us to do everything would be different. We are evil and that is why we suffer. there is no need to suffer! We should do what we have to do without interest and help each other! If life does not matter to you is because you are not doing what you are suppose to do. Find your purpose and acomplish your goals. We should be doing and advancing instead of arguing and wasting our time. We should reach wisdom and kind that is what we shoud do. Do not waste your life. We have the power to change, just fix your pants and have the enough strenght to do it! God bless |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 4 | Life Is Truly A Gift That Is Given To Every Individual. In My Opinion, Your Life Should Be Based On What You Want People To Remeber You As But Of Course To Live Every Day As If It Is Your Last. No Matter How Many Mistakes You Make In Life, You Should Not Regret Them. Mistakes Are Basicaly Lessons That You Learn From. Despite How People Judge You, Whether It Is Your Physical Or Emotiional Appearances, Dont Let It Get To You. At The End Of The Day You Are Living Your Life And Not Theirs. Life Obviously Does Not Last Forever, But Everyday I Wish It Would. I Also Believe That You Cant Blame Others Or Yourself When People Past Because It Was Their Time To Go. God Puts Us On Earth For A Reason And He Knows How Much We Can Take On. Death Should Just Be Viewed As A Better Life That You Are Living Full Of Peace. Now I Do Believe That There Is Life After Death And You Can Come Back As Whatever. It May Be The Opposite Sex As You Were When You Were Living Or Even An Animal. In Conclusion To My Opoinion On Life, It Was Indeed Created For Us As Individuals To Make Ourselves Known And To Leave A Positive Effect On Others. Life Should Be Cherised And Not Taken For Granted. |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 4 | In my opinion we are given life for a reason. What that purpose is God only knows. Some live longer than others, while some only get to live for a very short period of time. I don't think that life is pointless. I think that as a humnag being we are to make the very best out of what we have. Tomorrow is never promised, so i live my life based on what i want to do. I believe in God and i think that there is a reason as to why he gave me the gift if life. |

| Hot Lava Location: Redlands, CA Posts: 2,258 | In specific terms, nope, I don't generally care what lives or dies in this world, outside of those I am personally aquainted with. If some kid in Bangladesh drops dead of malnourishment today, that doesn't affect me personally. Should it? Quote:

These really are pretty silly questions when you come right down to it. Most of it is wishful thinking, wanting to go on beyond your time so insisting that there's some magical, mystical purpose and reason for you to be here. The reality is, you're an insignificant biological entity on an insignificant planet, circling an insignificant star in an insignificant galaxy. To the universe, you mean less than squat. You're not even a cockroach worth swatting. Stop acting like you matter in the scheme of things and just LIVE!

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 6 | I believe that after death there is a heaven for the good and the right; also a hell for the wrong and non for given of there sins. I believe that we are as humans here on earth for the soul meaning of our test to get into the gates of heaven. We are here on earth to help one another in the task of getting into heaven and living for ever in the arms of Jesus crist our Lord. I know that my life is very important to me and others aswell. I am guily of one thing; i don't have a lot of heart when it comes to someone dieing that i don't know and for that i pray that God forgives me but i still know that we are here on earth to serve God and give him all of the praise. |
