alternate lifestyle and the MCC

Would someone from the Metropolitan Community Church, or some similar church please explain your biblical justification for alternative lifestyles? Have you said "the hell with what the Bible says. Let's just go through the rituals and motions." or can one practice an alternative lifestyle or civil union-marriage and still be in the will of God? If so, where is the scripture to back it up? This is not meant as a criticism.

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision. ~Lynn Lavner

You seem to like the gay threads, even ones over 7 months old, got some motive?

I'm with you, bob#. I could never figure out why gays would want to be part of organizations that expressed open disgust and intolerance, small-minded mean-ness, toward us. I can't see an atheist trying to join the Masons.
May I add I'm always disappointed to hear a scientist express religious superstitions as well. They're about as well appreciated as homosexuals. At least intellectuals are resisting.

I've never caught flak for being a scientist.

I wouldn't give you any flack about it myself. But I would understand that in at least some ways you weren't thinking scientifically, as I understand the term.

No motive in particular. I'm curious about a lot of things. I spend 90 of my free time reading; and the more I learn the more I find out how little anyone knows, including and especially myself.
This is one of the rare times I've been on this kind of thread. I'm usually throwing the bull in Politics.
It's interesting, however, that you should ask about my motive. Why?

Could you be specific about the parts of the Bible that you are referring to?

There are many parts of the Mosaic Code in the Bible which should be ignored. Killing disrespectful children is required by the Bible (Leviticus 20:9) but is not considered good parenting these days. Bible verses which authorize slavery (Leviticus 25:44-45) or forbid the cutting of men's beards (Leviticus 19:27) are also widely ignored by most.

It seems to me that the "tolerant" churches are no so much ignoring the Bible, as those who dislike gay folks are cherry picking from the nastier parts of the Mosaic Code.

great

Interesting answer. I find it difficult at times to distinguish between where rationalisation ends end and sincere truth and belief begin.
Thanks for the response
