| Paladin Location: Narnia Posts: 4,277 | If I were you guys, I'd be a little more respectful. You may not believe in the deity of Christ, but you can at least acknowledge that he lived and died helping people. If a man died for me, even if I didn't think I needed saving, I would at least respect him in that he cared that much about me. In my view, dying for people's sins is a damn stupid thing to do, so why should I respect that? The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. |

That god created a system whereby all of the created are derserving of eternal torture, and the majority who do not buy into such a psychotic belief system are going to be getting that eternal torture. Such a being is worthy of fear, not respect. Do all things with love. Last edited by Captain Chaos; Oct 5, 2006 at 02:01 pm. | |

| technę Posts: 2,398 | Perhaps it would be better if Christians died for others in a more visible fashion. It is not that we are disrespectful of Christ, we just find it ridiculous that you believe a priest can turn bread into Christ's body. To me, this is just like David Blaine (the magician) making people think he can hover over the ground. The point is, it is childish and quite shallow to literally believe that David Blaine can fly. I'm the thought that never crossed my mind. |

| Paladin Location: Narnia Posts: 4,277 | I'm not catholic. I just don't like to see people being so vulgar about someone for whom I care deeply. Is it too much to ask for a little courtesy? | Paladin Location: Narnia Posts: 4,277 | Look, I don't go around making nasty jokes about others. Especially not about something that someone else holds dear. Even if I think they're entirely wrong, I am sensitive to the things that others care about. That's all I ask. | Ch Latour 61 Location: Maryland Posts: 638 | You operate under the assumption that Jesus actually existed. That's not at all certain. Given the controversy surrounding all the texts from that time period, it's a 50-50 proposition, at best, that there ever was a Christ. I find it hard to believe a man could be a God, or even that a human-like God could exist. One cannot be disrespectful of what never existed. |
