To sum up mine is to say that I don't have a religion. It is a relationship. I commune with God daily and I have to admit, obedience is a point I must be stronger in. I would say that the Bible is the Word of God, the most unique literature and the most reasonable in answering origin, condition, salvation and destiny. I would also say that if it's not biblical I don't believe it and am very conservative in my views. I do believe that Christians should be involved in politics and society and in all aspects of society as well as in the community. Church is a place wherever the believer dwells, whether on Sunday or not.

Ah, I'm sorry, it is a religion. Call it what you like.

I am agnostic because, well, i don't want to associate myself with any religion that tells me what to believe. im not atheist because i believe that their is a possibility of god being real. And just like one of my favorite quotes i've read, this is why i am agnostic. "I don't hate god, I just hate his fan club."

"religion is the opiate of the masses, however without it one could only assume the morons that are religious would be running around like chickens with their heads cut off, therefore it is a necessary opiate."

I'm an atheist in the weak sense ("I don't believe in a god") or an agnostic in the weak sense ("I don't know whether there is a god"); I'm not sure whether we can actually know if there's a god, but heck, it is a bit unlikely. We laugh at thundergods or seagods, but still opt for an "almighty god" who controls both? If the existing god is the one of religious stories or characterizations, it is a self-contradictory or unreliable (let alone scientifically testable or falsifiable) god; if it is beyond our human imaginations, it becomes a meaningless god (nothing sensible can be said about it, for it doesn't do anything comprehensible, except, perhaps, just be there beyond the knowable).

I find religion (or: belief systems) much more interesting than a god.

Self-deception does not alter truth.

I guess I'm technically an atheist. I don't know if God exists because I haven't perceived him. I haven't seen him, heard him, touched him, etc. If you can't sense something by my logic it doesn't exist.

Not

No one commentated on your religion mate, so don't go challenging others beliefs systems. If I am wrong in this correct me, but I was under the assumption that this thread was in place to merely list your religion and what you believe, not have an assortment of God deniers commentate on the ways in which people with faith, view it.

You're correct in that. We've asked several times that this thread not be used for debate. It's a "getting to know you" type thread. Please direct comments, challenges and debates to other threads.

heh, fine. i'll follow it up with a thread.

i apologise for breaking the rules of this thread, but your 'noone commentated on your religion' bit implies that i should return the favor more generally. im sorry gamb, i don't think like that.

I would have to say that I am buddhist. It seems to answer a lot of spiritual questions that I have had for years. I think spirituality is part of human nature, although, it is not possible to define it as it means something different to every single person out there.

In many ways I'd like to be a Socratesian.... or an Ayn Randian.... or a Jesusian.... sometimes an Alan Wattsian.....

I guess I don't have a specific religion. I can't really claim to support the whole entire doctorine of one of them. Lets call mine human. Now everybody is part of my religion

I wonder something: Can you explain what Ayn Rand's philosophy was? Just informational purposes and Alan Watts?

It's apparent that you don't know much about the Bible, because Obadiah doesn't have anything close to 41 verses, let alone chapters (21 verses to be exact) just a little humor there--I dont want this to steam into a debate since that was not the intention but I found your reference to Obadiah funny or more precisely Obeydiah 41

Once more, this is not a place to debate yours or other peoples' religion. There is a whole forum full of threads dedicated to it - move on.

The rebuke lol

That is why I had the disclaimer in the midst of the letter, saying that I didn't want to turn it into the debate. That was the purpose of it,

I'm a Protestant Christian. I'm non-denominational, so I'm not "Lutheran" or "Baptist" or what not. However, I am also very logical and scientific. I believe in evolution, that the age of the universe is in the billions, and most other things the scientific community believes in. If you are confused about this, please ask and I'll try to explain, I'm just not currently in the mood to write a book. =)

I didn't know there was an Obadiah. I was trying to be funny by putting in "Obey" and the much overused suffix "diah" and make up a fictional Bible verse. And know I'm not trying to start a debate (Even though these are debate forums), I was protecting myself from the converters.
