| little light of mine Location: In the shadows Posts: 127 | he asked questions? i'm a lutheran (by upbringing) but i know too much about religion to believe in any one faith. I may come off as a satanist sometimes (music i listen to, my signiture, avatar, user title) but i don't believe in satan or god. So I guess i'm agnostic (if someone could prove if god exists i guess i would be a fool not to believe) what are they gonna do when the lights go down? Without you to guide them all to Zion? What are they gonna do when the rivers overrun? Other than tremble incessantly |

I agree with you about Bohoeffer. He was a REAL man who dared to live his faith openly under the most tryimng circumstances. It is great of you to mention him.. | |

| Molten Ash Location: Pennsylvania Posts: 72 | Ohh boy , I just know I am going to probably get ripped to shreds for this ...but here goes .... I was raised Catholic....I however am not a practicing one anymore ...I do not agree with alot that the catholic church has to say on certain views, I have my own code of ethics..I dont believe in murder for the sake of murder , I do however believe that if someone kills someone , he or she should be held accountable for thier actions , I do not believe in abortion as birth control, but I do believe it is a viable option in the case of rape or death to the mother , I personally feel that gay men and women should be allowed to marry ( everyone deserves to be miserable :) ) I believe that we should try to protect one another , but I do not believe that we should shove our religious beliefs down someones throat, we can express our ideas and even debate them but should never insult someone because we do not feel the same as they do, I believe these things because they are what i feel to be right for me in my life , not because I fear the big, bad, mad so called father . I dont really know if I even believe in god anymore becasue if god exisists and loves us , why is there so much suffering in the world ( and please if you are a bible thumper please do not tell me that suffering exists because there is sin in the world , I really dont want to hear it , my dad and I get into this argument frequently ...god is supposed to be a loving father blah blah blah ....) I have alot of people in my life who have helped to shape my beliefs , but all of these people have also given me other opinions and other options, I dont really know whom i believe in as far as an organized religion goes , so I guess I believe in myself . |

I have checked out many religions, and no organized religion has shown me any significant reason to adopt it. I have a lot of my own beliefs, but I don't think they fit into the context of religion, or Gods other than the God that is nature. | Igneous Magma Location: In the hot state Posts: 191 | I was raised in the Church of Christ but was not brainwashed -- meaning biblical teachings were merely presented with no church dogma, we were not told "answers" or how to think about these teachings. So, I still view religion probably as history. Later in life I joined a Unity church in Michigan (brought up in Texas) where I received a spiritual education. Now, I read biblical scholars and seek out the bibliographies that lead me to ancient documents. See, since I was not brainwashed I am able to do this, the whole subject is fascinating, intriguing. I feel sympathy for those whose minds were stolen in youth. How very boring are these people, who have had their minds closed around a smidgen of information from others. They're like little mice, picking away at crumbs in the pantry when there's a lovely dining room chock full of delicious and wonderful foods from everywhere. |

| Molten Ash Posts: 97 | Atheism is not a religion and I didn't get that impression from reading the posts. I'm pretty sure most atheists would tell you that it's not even a matter of a specific belief system, it's a matter of fact. The only folks who may lean towards atheism-as-religion would be agnostics. Probably the nearest thing to an atheist in denial. |

| Igneous Magma Location: In the hot state Posts: 191 | Was this, abortion, the reasoning behnd the question of whether or not life begins at conception or at some other time? why does this question connect with religion? Women will always have abortions, always have. Now, they are legal. Should they become illegal, women will still have them. Men don't have abortions, and they gave the seed away willingly. So, what is this all about? |

| Igneous Magma Location: In the hot state Posts: 191 | uh, scusa, this is the wrong thread, this comment belongs in Does-life-begin-at-conception. But, about "My Religion" having no use any longer, for some time now, for religion, I could say that athiests could be people in transition. I don't believe in God as God was presented to me in religion. Neither do I think the God-of-this-world is the One God of whom Jesus spoke. So, there, take that. This subject is rather insane. Common sense is common sense. If it don't quack like a duck, then it ain't a duck! |

| Igneous Magma Location: In the hot state Posts: 191 | Kuldeep -- OK, yes, the subject is worth probing, it's just that I don't meet many cyber folks who read the books I read, have even been where I've been. They just continue hating religion, not knowing there's alternatives to giving up on God because of religion's fabrications, secrets, and this black fear spouted the second someone exposes the lies, or at the least misunderstandings. Someone once said that during the dark ages the east and west separated, leaving the western religion without knowledge of eastern. Essentially, The Church in Europe and US developed but has no roots. Protestantism has less and I note each year a little more Catholocism is added to the protestant doctrines. Now, do we wish to be controlled by one world religion without first probing until the truth is exposed? But...I am an optimist and think religions will some day come together |
