I think the biggest problem in the world is base on religious believe. I was born Catholic, now I convert myself to a Baptist Christian. Why? I do that. Because I realize there is some key thing in the bible the Catholic believer does not want to agree with.

Enventhought your faith is depend on you, you have the rigth to agree that people should respect the others belivers. After death, you have the price to pay for your sin that it is one reasons people should choose their own religion.

I was raised Roman Catholic. Went to Catholic School, High School. Always thought Catholics were cool, but mean. Started to question it at around 6 or 7 cause I hated Confession. I thought how can this be a good thing. How can the priests and nuns be so mean, and a lot of the people. Just couldn't trust in it. I still always turn to the old ways. I pray to my Mom a lot, and want to see her, so I hold onto it just for that more than anything, but I don't go to church. I stopped going regularly at age 15, and that was it. Just like to sleep in and really hate the anxiety it causes when I enter any church.

Darling, during the world wars thousands died for us. They believed they were fighting for democracy and everything that made our lives good. I think it is wrong to think of only one man instead of all of them.

Until looking up gnosticism, I couldn't understand the concept of puratory. The idea of such evil realms perdates Christianity and was foreign to Judaism, until Perian ideas started filtering into Rome. If you want to be free from fears promoted by religion, look into the history and what Persians and Greeks have to do with Christian beliefs.

Also you might look into Buddaism as it shares much with Catholism, especial candles, incents and rosery beads. Which makes more sense after reading about gnosticism.

I'm a Nihilist at heart.. but that would be conflicting with my beliefs in Atheism..

so I can only really settle for semi-nihilistic / Atheist ^^;;

I do not affiliate with an institution, but i very much like the teachings of Jesus and Buddha.

I feel that meditation and the use of psychedelics can teach us a lot. I'm a pacifist and (as a result) an anarchist, both coming from my spiritual beliefs.

I'm not really that religious although I born a Roman Catholic. It's just I can't stand what I hear from religion most of the time, about how homosexuality is wrong and you should not be friends with someone who is a practicing homosexual etc. People say God teaches love, then why would you encourage people to hate someone for who they are?

Born and raised in the Church of Christ. Baptized at age 13. I hold true to all the things my church teaches, and try my best to abide by those teachings. Uncle is my current minister, and grandfather was a minster for over 50 years before his demise in 2000.

Religion plays a major role in my everyday life.

Hmm...this one conveniently escaped my notice. Well, I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I'm a Christian. I am evangelical, and extremely committed. I am so much on the far side of what most people expect that I have titled myself a fanatic in my tag line. I don't belong to any denomination (don't get me started on infighting: it really ticks me off). God is present in every aspect of my life (at least, that's the ideal...can't say that I always live up to that). My faith was not inherited. I came about it through reading the Word and actively seeking God. As a matter of fact, while my parents still call themselves Christian, I believe many things that are distinctly different from what they believe. As near as I can tell, my church spawned off from a Church of Christ. There are some differences. We often use musical instruments for example :). But my pastor is a scientist and so am I. You may have already realized that I'm pretty well read up on the stuff that I talk about. Nothing in science, philosophy, psychology or anything else has been able to dissuade me from my faith.

That firm faith in me is that I exist, existed for ever and would exist for ever inspite of my present materialistic body, no matter not exiting everytime!!! What is your faith of such status??? :(

See, such faith can not be dissuaded by science, philosophy, psychology or anything else. This faith of mine is not out come of my religion, faith, preaching or litarary nowledge, but from my own deep concentrated thinking an then feeling!!!

Of course it cannot be dissauded by anything, thats what faith is. Clutching on tight to whatever idea you have even when everything else tells you you are wrong.

And why is that a good thing again? In every case except religion, we have words for that kind of attitude - such as self-delusion, willful ignorance, and stubborness.

Call it what you will. You may have figured out by now that I don't care.

While commenting on my idea, you have not paid any attention on my reason for such belief which is "my own deep concentrated thinking an then feeling!!! I would like to add that too in an unbiased manner!!! I can reason out to a person who feels my idea is wrong. But then, what is the need??? As long as my silly idea is not harming second person anyway, it should not be any concern to worry about!!! :)

Though, I care to listen others but my reasons for my belief are so sound which others telling possibly won't be able to change that.
But, I only wished to know your that peculiar faith, which is yet to appear in your post!!!!

was raised catholic, became disillusioned with it around early 20s, the divorce became complete around the time of the pedophile priest scandal.

i've recently had a religious reawakening due to catastrophic world events. a scenario was revealed to me which is really as simple as good vs evil and all you need is love. It wasn't a disembodied voice or anything, just a "knowing" that replaced my paranoia about how governments and the world in general operate with a contented calmness that to see the world for what it is (especially my own government) would put a person on the side of righteousness.

i've raised my children to think for themselves and make logical choices when it comes to religion. consequently, my children are non-believers. how do you think i feel now that i have to tell them i was wrong? (which i have begun to do)

it's not an organized religion i now profess to. call it being spiritually aware.
