This is an online book that I havent finished yet, but I enjoy the dynamic.
The Gospel Writers
I have no argument with God, but with organized bureaucracy that would control the minds of men with an ideology. I always try to see God as He/She/It really is, divorced from the limited definitions of mere man.
I want to see and know God, so I will. The churchs I have visited (several hundred) all seem to push the same basic text. One that I find lacking. However I doubt God will turn away from those people, or anyone who sincerely seeks Truth.
The trick is ...... am I groomed for the next level?
God save me from Big Shotism and let me learn the lessons I must learn, from eagerness and willingness rather than pain.

Has anyone learned about the spiritual realm from "The Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield?
I got a lot out of that.

No, I am not, (Im not that smart) but from what I have seen so far its kinda spooky how close it is to how I feel about bogus religious heirarchy. Yet I have learned new things from it, too

After experiencing several relgious theories and witnessing the damage they have wrought, after my personal research into both relgion and philosphy, I am a born again pagan.

Fantastic, may I ask if your in a particular stream of paganism, or an undefined personal pagan?

Also, does anyone know what WOOT means?

Once when I was young, I was naive enough to believe in Santa, however I grew up and learned the truth, Santa doesn't exist. The exact same is true of God.

When I was young, I also believed that all adults were safe, picking my nose was fun and that the easter bunny laid eggs for everyone.
But then I grew up. An guess what, I still dont believe in a set God.
Does that mean your anaology has a flaw Chris the Chees?

Do you still believe those things?

I still dont believe in a set God

But you do believe in a God?

If no then you just weren't as naive as other children. Unfortunatly your other acts of naivity rather cancel that out.

Starboy if you refer to me when you say "Maybe she is a liar for Jesus" you are gravely mistaken. I lived a lie and then I found the truth. To tell why became a Christian would take to long and judging by your attitude on this thread and others you seem to be extremely close minded. All I care about is that I have purpose and peace now.

Well good for you. And if you ever decide to have an open mind you can ask me why you just might be a liar.

Merlin responds You are to be commended on your faith. Rabid critics are, for the most part, insecure failures. Most are terrified that their dearly held secular beliefs might be destroyed. This applies if the topic is religion or astronomy.

With faith all things are possible. Jesus was a wise man and I feel was instilled with a higher power. This "man" was a true maryter with worldwide implications. The earths inhabitants need more earthly charity that he exemplified. Jesus accomplished the greatest coup in religious paradigms that history has witnessed (he was the catalyst for the J. Christian religion). Jesus was the guru of love (of mankind) and may very well been God (the ID) in the flesh. I am of the opinion that this great man, give us the ability to, by example show all of man what true love is about.

People with your caliber of faith humble me. Thank you.

I'm pretty much like a lot of the members here except I ended up somewhere else. I started off as a Muslim in a non-religious Muslim family, I started to lose my faith because of a lot of reasons. I explored Buddhism, Hinduism....didn't find it there. I then read the Bible (Old and New Testament)...umm....still Christianity and Judaism didn't do it for me. I went atheist for a while...the scientific theory attracted me, although I forgot to ask myself a very important question then (while adopting atheism)..."Who created that first unicellular organism that life evolved out of" then again..."Who created that gigantic mass that exploded into our universe (Big bang)?"...well, after asking myself these questions...I came back to where I was in the first place...Islam...despite all the stereotype and all the false accusations (true) Muslims suffer, I upheld Islam and hope to die on this belief.

It must be tough to hear all the put downs from people who slam Islam for all the antics of people like Osama Bin Laden. What is your reaction to this?

BTW, welcome to Volconvo, mostof.

Scribbler1,
Exactly...!

It's not a perfect world. I believe we have been created and put in this world to be tested. And amongst these tests - and a tough one as i see it - is stereotypes. Osama bin Laden - I would like to announce to everyone here - is not portraying Islam, he is in fact portraying terrorism according to his distorted view of Islam....it's such a shame that people go around doing things for their own personal benifit and then put it on religion.

Back to your question...

If someone wants to know about Islam then he/she has to go back to the scripts, then a true judgement can be made...and I don't think it would be fair to judge a religion by its people, for people are not immaculate...the religion should be however....

If you can't judge it by its people then what do you judge it by. How good it makes you feel? Or by it's "truth"? Or in your case is it just a matter of habit?

It's not a habit in my case, i don't know where you drew that from. You judge a religion by its scripts; and if it were fair to judge it by its people then no religion would be correct because people are not flawless. I also never said how good a religion makes you feel is a fair base to judge it upon...a lot of times you might believe that you're feeling good, but as time goes by and you look back at that feeling it looks much different.
