    Is Cannibalism Ever Called For?

The topic is about cannibalism. I watched the movie "Alive". These people crash in the Andes, and when the search parties cannot find them, they resort to eating the bodies of the dead. Personally, if I were starving, I see nothing wrong in eating the meat of those who are dead anyway. It is gross, but it can also save lives.

This may be a two-part question. Is it OK to eat those already dead in order for you to survive (Alive) and/or is it OK to kill others for food in order to survive (Donner party)?

I'd say "yes" to the first, I'm less sure I could accomplish the latter.

I guess it is. I not think it is right to kill other for food. It is completely unethical.

I really don't see a problem with eating the body of a dead person. It is a method of survival and although it might not be entirely sanitary, it is a better option than death.

As far as killing a person and eating them, it can only by ethical if the person is giving consent to be desecrated in such a way.

As disgusting as it might be, if you had to do it to survive, yes.

However otherwise, I dont think there is really any reason to do so.

If evil is my enemy, then I will fight against it. If evil is on my side, then evil is my friend. If it is simply the way of all human nature, are we then all evil?

In that case so would the eating of any meat. what difference is there between killing a cow and killing a human.

    There is always religion.

cannabilism was a religious practice among the maori who reasoned that traits in a person could be attained through eating that person. Eating the eyes of someone who known for his good sight was thought to transfer that to the eater.

Could be a part three, Jack. What if you don't have to kill? Perhaps ........
    consentual?

However, to stay with dan's topic, I would tend to agree with him as well. And conclude I don't care too much for that movie.

There was a case in Germany a couple of years ago about a man who consented to be eaten. The man who ate him is now serving life. I'll see if I can dig up a link.

I read that too they met on a cannibal internet site didnt they?

Anyway, I would eat someone already dead to survive, I'd probably try and find a way of cooking them though.
I realise in alive it was just a little frozen raw human meat, but I still would!

I dont think I could kill someone, but if I was with my kids and they needed to eat and there was no other option I would probably be in my means to kill to eat.
