If this was an adult I would say go on with your bad alternative self, as would the state. However, a 13 year-old boy? I agree with Brown County, this is obvious parental neglect. This boy will die because the parents refuse the proper treatment. I hope the courts get the kid the proper care.A 13-year-old boy who is resisting chemotherapy for cancer will likely die without the treatment, his doctor and other physicians testified Friday. But his mother insisted the boy wouldn't submit and she said she wouldn't comply with a court order.
Daniel Hauser, of Sleepy Eye, is at the center of a legal struggle in which Brown County authorities accuse his parents of medical neglect. He suffers from Hodgkin's lymphoma, a highly curable form of cancer.
After Daniel stopped chemotherapy after a single treatment, opting instead for "alternative medicines," child protection workers went to court requesting custody.
Should religion trump state in this instance?
