Doc: Minn. boy resisting chemo will likely die

Duluth News Tribune | Duluth, Minnesota

A 13-year-old boy who is resisting chemotherapy for cancer will likely die without the treatment, his doctor and other physicians testified Friday. But his mother insisted the boy wouldn't submit and she said she wouldn't comply with a court order.

Daniel Hauser, of Sleepy Eye, is at the center of a legal struggle in which Brown County authorities accuse his parents of medical neglect. He suffers from Hodgkin's lymphoma, a highly curable form of cancer.

After Daniel stopped chemotherapy after a single treatment, opting instead for "alternative medicines," child protection workers went to court requesting custody.
If this was an adult I would say go on with your bad alternative self, as would the state. However, a 13 year-old boy? I agree with Brown County, this is obvious parental neglect. This boy will die because the parents refuse the proper treatment. I hope the courts get the kid the proper care.

Should religion trump state in this instance?

Your link did not work for me, so I did not see the mentions of religion being the reason for the opposing of treatment.
But no, those religious nut jobs are going too far if that is the case.

Thanks for mentioning that, apparently they want people to pay for articles. Here's another link with a video:

    The religious aspect:

"The Hauser family is arguing that chemotherapy conflicts with their religious beliefs that go along with a band of Native Americans called "Namenha" which Danny has been adopted into. They would prefer to treat Daniel with natural medicine.Dan says, "One of our main concepts and beliefs is we do no harm, and since chemotherapy is a poison and we inject that into our bodies, we would really like to get around that."

Can the doctors and/or authorities forcing the issue GUARANTEE the child will live with chemotherapy treatments and absolutely GUARANTEE the child will die imminently without it?

If not, they need to butt out and STFU!. I am sick to death of 'expert' prognosticators who can't find their own butt with both hands AND a shovel telling others what will happen if they don't listen to the 'professionals'.

Why don't they go get in a more honorable profession like prostitutes or drug dealers...oh, wait...that IS their profession already: whoring dope dealers!

    That's BS with capital letters!

There is only one right answer and, yet, you still argue with me..

I'm the proof that evolution works...

You're the proof that it doesn't.

Ask your doctor if thinking is right for you.
