"How To Stimulate The Economy"

I have an idea that one the surface seems as though it could be an economical boom for our country - let me put it out here for some feedback!
Pay Raise Incentive
What would happen if 10% of the working class were to get a $1.00 an hour raise?

How many people would be able to suddenly afford a new car or home?

Let us look at some generic numbers.

$1.00 an hour = $40.00 a week which = $2080.00 per year

$2080.00 per year - or (approximately) $1456.00 after taxes.

That by itself isn't all that much - but . . . what if it were to be possible 4 x per year?

I am sure no one would argue that businesses are in business to make money - right?

So; what if there were some government incentives to create this "Wealth Distribution" ?

After all, if you did a Google search for this "new business incentives" you would see these links in this order (as of 7:57 EST)
  1. India
  2. New Jersey
  3. New Jersey
  4. New York
  5. New York
  6. Tennessee

Those links are about businesses that are being wooed to relocate.

However; what incentive is there for companies that pay less than a liveable wage (up to $12.00 an hours) to pay more (without union due's)?

THIS IS WHAT I PROPOSE:

Based on 13 weeks being a fiscal quarter

If an employee were to get a pay increase of $1.00 an hour per fiscal quarter for just one year. They would have nearly $6,000.00 per year after taxes.

Consider this:

IF 2 people (husband & wife) were to make a meager $11.00 per hour each full time

They could afford a $120,000.00 home with no money down

at 6.25% interest

with a monthly debt of $400.00

$3,300.00 tax & insurance

with zero liquid assets.

Tell me this ...
what would this 4 quarterly wage increases do for a married couple who both make $7.00 an hour?

What if one made $12.00 an hour and one made $10.00 an hour?
QUESTION:

  • What kind of buying power would that create?
  • How many debts would become payable (no bankrupcy court needed)?
  • How many jobs would be added to service those who were spending more?
  • What business would NOT benefit from a wealthier customer base?

WHAT would it be worth to create an incentive that businesses would want to create some of this wage increase?

I think that ANY employee that has been with a company at least 1 years should be eligable for an arrangement like this.

I think that for one or two years MAXIMUM there should be some sort of an incentive to business that makes them willing to give $1.00 an hour raise up to 4 times a year per employee.
