Jan 17th, this guy must die. Clarence Ray, California's oldest and most infirm death row inmate has a date with death. Because he's supposedly blind and wheelchair ridden, he feels he should get off. Yeah, when ole death angel comes knockin at your door, I can imagine getting kind of paralyzed and blind, good for sympathy, huh?

I wonder if the hollywood crowd and Jesse Jackson will be there to party for him? Would you beleive this guy had three people killed while he was in jail for murder. He was afraid these guys would spoil his chances for appeal. It's way over due for you to go pal, you been there over twenty years, what a shame.

Again, your behaviour disgusts me. Just like the Romans when the Christians were brought out to the arena...sickening.

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Only the Christians were not guilty of murder, right? See, even in jail they commit murder, don't you find that sickening?

I have never been able to alight from the fence regarding the issue of capital punishment... It's a tough one. I hope I'm never called for jury service on such a case.

Zealot, just out of curiosity... I'm not judging. What makes you so elated about the prospective death of a blind geriatric cripple?

Zealot, once again. It's not their behaviour I'm excusing - it's yours I'm condemning. You're one sick puppy.

Why is "the Christian Zealot" concerned with people he doesn't know wishing their death?

Sick man.

I am sure Zealot has never sinned (worked on Saturday, Lied, Disrespected his parents, Stolen etc. ad naseum.....) So he should cast the first stones of judgement. Be careful what measure you dole out, the same scales will judge you. He who rushes to maximum sentences without full knowlege of the particulars, will also be hastily sentenced. With maximum punishments.

Are you ignoring the fact that Jackson is a christian minister?

While I don't share Zealots obvious zeal I do agree he should be executed for his crimes.

I appreciate your curiosity and will gladly tell you why I seek the rightful death of a cold-blooded murderer. It is perfectly ok for you to judge me, I welcome your concern.

No matter his condition or his age he still must pay for his sin which was done when he was very fit and capable. His victims are still very dead and could have lived as long as he had he not killed them, right? I don't know if I would call my condition elated, but I am pleased to see justice being done for I feel if I were the victim I would also be pleased and happy about his death. What a shame it had to be drawn so long so lawyers could make a living out of his murders. Thank you

Is it a crime to be zealous about justice. Look how the liberals gleefully debase Bush, even if it is hurting our country. Couldn't you call that sick too?

Isn't it interesting that those who condemn capital punishment and those who support it somehow can't even stomach a difference of opinion. Intolerance comes in many forms, apparently.

Having now acquainted myself with the facts concerning Clarence Ray Allen and his crimes, I would have to say that the case certainly provides a strong argument for capital punishment.

As I said, I have always sat on the fence with this issue. However I would add that a family member of mine died, suffering terribly over a four day period before death was pronounced. The Coroner recorded an 'Open Verdict' and subsequently the two suspects have, to date, never been brought to trial.

We, as a family, do have moments when thoughts of revenge and radical justice enter our darkest thoughts... however these emotions are brief. In the cold light of dawn one rationalizes more coherently. I can't speak for other survivors of slain relatives/loved ones, I can only say that I don't think that anyone in my family necessarily thinks in terms of the ultimate punishment. Certainly, we know that the victim in our family would not have wanted it.

As I said, if ever there was a case for capital punishment, the Allen one is a strong contender... that fence is awfully uncomfortable, but I just can't seem to decide from which side to alight.

Laurie, you hit on much of the problem, too many people are content and comfortable to live on the fence. How many, including your family member, would not have chosen to defend themselves if they had the chance with deadly force? How many would have gladly killed their attacker or seriously maimed him? Wouldn't you Laurie use any possible means available to save your life from sure death confrontation.

Of course you would defend, so then why is there any question of the disposal of a scum bag who is proven guilty? If you were standing there looking at the beaten, raped, lifeless body of your daughter and the man who did it was standing right there, would you have compassion on him and plead for his release like they did for Tookie? I'll bet you wouldn't, so why should we 20 years later?

Survival instinct. Fight or Flight. Brain stem functions. Smacks of evolution or something similar to that. Oh, wait, that didn't happen, right? I think Jesus was trying to teach us a better way, but we're still getting it wrong. Death penalty....I dunno I sit on the fence myself actually. Legalized murder, well, I guess it's kill or be killed. I dunno. I just wish I could see the world in black and white, but I find to many shades of gray.

If you want the country to go to hell in a handbasket, then vote for the one who can drive you there blindfolded.
