Its all about the talking points. They are prepared ( or so they think ) to argue certain points that they have rehearsed among themselves, and they will make any attempt to circle the discussion around to those points they think they can justify with their alarmist rhetoric.


Unfortunately, I don't think most people can get past this tactic, because it requires knowledge that is not always easy to reference, or they get caught up in the bi-partisan finger pointing competition. After all, most people consider themselves part of that bi-partisan group, because it encompasses virtuall all Democrips, and Rebloodlicans, and we all know that those two entities have long been at war. (or so they would have you think)


The best way to expose the BS, in my opinion, is to expose the hypocricy, and the fascist roots behind it all.

After thinking on this a while, I realized that they may have actually toned it down a bit, or perhaps its the individual members, but since Vicchio, and Dieval are not posting as much, nobody is telling me to leave my country.


It is so sad that they have the stones to impune my patriotism because I refuse follow the thought process that requires us to enact Soviet Russia like police state tactics against our own citizens.


It never ceases to amaze me how they can shred the constitution, and all of the ideals this country was founded on, and be suprised that I look at them as a bigger enemy than the terrorists they have inspired to attack us.


I guess if you have the luxury of creating your own reality, you might as well make one where you are the king of all you percieve, right?

We used to have some quality Right wingers. I think Deedee and her sig.other/boyfriend/husband are good. I disagree with their politics, but they bring forth a higher quality than do people like swordsman/Zealot/GodblessAmerica in my opinon.

Aye, so too for Fifi and Waychel. And prettyredhead was on most issues solidly on the right. But they were all reasonable, backed up their arguements, actually attempted to counter other peoples arguments than sidestep. Mostly they were civil, which encourages further civility.

Oh, and Waychel was cute, so too I imagine for fifi and prettyredhead. Always helps the conversation stay calm. So much easier to start ranting at an ugly man...

Every post zealot has directed at me since he finally figured out that I'm not American has contained some reference to "the land where the sun has set" or some other unneccessary and veiled insult. I really don't mind that. The problem is that it's the only thing he's saying. Where is the debate?

at this point, with a sizeable majority of the public realizing that bush sucks, i tend to see the remaining supporters as nothing more than dead enders.. bush's policies are no longer intellectually defensible, so the best they can do is repeat the same tired rhetoric that rove instructs bush to say..

the conservative argument was MUCH stronger before we found out that the wmd's claim was a flat out lie. ever since then, the dead enders have followed bush as he tried to argue that this war was for freedom and all that other pseudo-patriotic bullshit.

they can't really defend bush, since even they know that he's full of shit.. so instead, they try to divert the debate and focus on the democrats' ineptitude to lead the nation. of course, they're a minority party with severely limited power, so it's not like they can really do much to alter his control. any diminishment in bush's (and the GOP's) power is almost completely due to weakening public support for his policies.

Nor do I mind your unveiled and unneccessary insults of my country and my president. For I must remember the brave men like Churchill and the men and leaders of the UK who stood by America in WW2 and in Iraq. You say "where is the debate", where is it? You demand that I respect the fact that you are not an American, so tell me about London. I asked if you had nothing good to say about your land where the sun has set. Are you a man without a country?

That is fact BTW, it used to be said that "the sun never sets on the British Empire".
