American Empire?

Why not, every major nation in history has made the transformation into a vast empire of nations. So why should we not capitolize on our birthright? Do we not already feed half the world, a third of the worlds students want to come here for education, and it would certainly prevent us from having to invade a nation and then ten years later do it again.

If indeed we are "the greatest nation that the world has ever seen" (a rather idiotic boast), we became so not by being an empire, but as a republic. Already we have lost most of any claim to grandeur by the bumbling brutality of the criminal cabal who claim to be out leaders.

America hasn't done too well with the colonies we do or did have. For example, Puerto Rico and the Philippines haven't become shining examples of freedom and prosperity. What would make anyone think we could do better with even more property to govern?

im not some crybaby complaining about the way the country is going, and yes i believe in empire but if you shut up and think open minded for a second maybe you would too. In this modern age some old imperial order wouldnt work, and i never said we need an emperor or anything like that, i mean that instead of creating new regimes around the world take those conquered nations as our own and allow those people the right to citizenship so that if they dont like america, rather than driving a plane into a building maybe theyll do something about it or they could just sit around and mope like you. Do you realize that if we would have taken ahfganistan after they beat the soviets this bin laden thing would be non existent. Or if back in desert storm if we would have went on to bahgdad then maybe we wouldnt be there now. So go ahead cry a little more but at least have some thing to say.

That is very true, the first part. There is no reason for us to be falling behind so quickly and great reform is needed. Im republican but, this is an issue that takes that special touch from the democratic party to heal(education). But as far as China their expanse is due to the robbery they commit every year to japanese and american businessman an women. Dont forget how many companies now are suing China for stealing patents, Bill Gates is the biggest. The only way to this chinese expanse is military action.
