The chances of aliens, if they exist, ever coming here are negligible. Don't waste time worrying about something so pointless.
Hey guess what? This is a misc thread, so I don't see why he doesn't waste his time talking about it.

Probing..... umm going to stay away from that.

I find it funny to look at all the people who cry "GOVERNMENT CONSPIRARCY!!!!!" whenever the idea of aliens comes up. Believe me, if the aliens have landed, then I think the government would try to get every scource of fuel they have.

Okay back to anal probing.

Mabye it's the redneck's that anally probe the aliens.

I belive there are beings on other planets, I find it arrorgant to think in an infinite universe that we are the only sentient beings.
I quite agree, I do believe I saw a TV program on space with Sam Neil, the program stated that there were billions of star systems, I find it near inconceivable that not even one of them contains life. Whether they would be able to or want to travel here in saucers I do not know.

Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society.

That's the problem I have with this speculation. We imagine aliens the same way we imagine gods, as similar to ourselves.
I agree that life on other planets is probable. But that form of life has little chance to resemble us unless every condition of their planet matched this one. Aliens could be mold, slime or look like wombats. They could be as able to navigate the stars as we are. Bilateral symmetry may not be universal. That could result is some very odd looking aliens.

do not forget, we are animals also. it is highly probable that there exists an infinite number of 'lifeforms' beyond our own understanding.

My guess is that at some point in the future, we will begin to colinize space. That is the time period in which we will most likely run into other lifeforms.

Point of Information here. Astronomers postulate that there are thousands upon thousands of planets that have the same make up as earth. Doesn't prove anything but begs the question.

For the record. There probably are, but perhaps the earth, and its inhabitants are so insignificant, it doesn't matter to those who can travel here. On the other hand, maybe we are like a petri dish experiment and others are observing to see if we annihilate each other. We are pretty damned good at that now, aren't we?

Whatever the case, with the endless possibilities of the millions of gallaxies out there, some astromoners believe the probablilities are very likely that they exist.

IMO aliens diffenitly exist, we can`t be the only planet in the cosmos that can sustain life.

Abdullah why don't bring the excerpts from Quran. Because I have read a feature where the author mentioned the following -
- there are 7 skyies ( 7 is not to mean a total seven but to mean many ).
- Also, Allah said that He put a curtain in front of our eyes , so we can't see through it ( means our imgination is limited ) etc.

I do believe and would be extremely happy to me E.T. in my life. I do not beleive the Aliens will be something like in "Independence Day" !!!

Though "intelligent life" might exist elsewhere in the universe, I don't think it's a certainty. Likely any race that evolved elsewhere in the universe would neither have technology we'd even recognize, as it would not only likely differ from ours in evolution by at least millenia but would most probably differ in how its development path, nor would aliens seem at all likely to look humanoid. It's quite likely life, if it evolved elsewhere in the universe wouldn't even have much of any resemblance to any life forms on Earth. We think of life as being carbon based life using DNA. How likely is it that life elsewhere would develop similarly? (Maybe we'll find out someday) Who's to say the Earth itself isn't alive in some sense and we're fleas on its back? I bet insects don't view humans as intelligent life and we don't view bacteria as intelligent life. Why would two life forms, differing in evolution and technology by potentially millions of years and alternate paths see much of any similarities? Do we even really have a good definition of what life is? Does it have to speak English for us to consider it intelligent? I just mean that it's not impossible that even trees are alive and have senses which can experience life and react to the environment. Simply because the "life" of a tree might be seen as metabolically much slower than humans, they still "bleed" in a sense ... sap in a tree operates in a manner similar to blood. Trees "see" light and bend toward it. They are composed of individual cells and reproduce and have DNA etc. Yet simply because they can't walk or talk in any way obvious to us, we don't see them as obvious life forms. We might appear like buzzing flies to a tree. How intelligent would humans appear to a tree? On another planet, if we found trees we might consider that life (though unintelligent ... but how can we really know? Wouldn't it take some form of intelligence to grow, seek out sources of food and reproduce? Intelligence seems less a black and white issue but more shades of gray).

My view is that if it walks on two legs, with knees and hands and eyes ... it's human ... if it doesn't look human, then it's likely wearing a costume. Unless I really have some first hand knowledge of aliens, I'm rather certain I'll remain skeptical of most the claims. Maybe that's because of television. Even the funky lights in the sky, or flying saucers seem most likely something human made, hoaxes or natural phenomenon and not a creation of extraterrestial intelligence. I might be overly skeptical but it's simply because some information people present you with is inaccurate, biased and/or untruthful. Maybe future firsthand experiences will change these views.

Also, consider that all the examples we use of life share similar DNA. A monkey differs very noticably from a human (at least the difference is obvious from a human perspective ) and that's only the difference of a small percent of DNA. Even a tree has DNA that likely shares a lot of commonalities with humans, yet we hardly recognize trees as being alive and these are still terrestrial life forms. Consider that evolution on a distant planet might not even use DNA and then try to imagine the possible differences and that doesn't even include the very likely vast difference in technologies. Humans, on Earth 500 years ago likely wouldn't even recognize a limousine as a human artifact and that's something created by their own offspring a bit over a dozen generations later. I doubt we'd even recognize an alien life form if we saw one much less see an alien that had human traits.

Back to the thread title "Do aliens exist?" - if the universe is eternal and life can come and go, then it's not impossible that life on Earth is a rather uncommon event. It seems we'll never have a good idea whether or not life exists elsewhere until we actually begin exploring more of the universe ... and who knows if we might not walk right past life and not even recognize it.

Yes aliens exist. No question about it, and if they don't or we can't find any then we will create them.

Hmmm...alien = sentient being that is non human.

All religious types therefore must believe in aliens as God fits that definition.

Wonder what will happen to all the religions ( except Hinduism ) if we found Aleins in another planet and they are superior to Humans !!!
