Slander is specific sorts of insults, communicated to third parties; dishonesty, unchastity (in women) even the imputation of homosexuality (in New York). The context is relevant and I doubt a case could be made for slander by dishonesty in a public forum online. Cases I know of involve the suggestion of dishonesty in a banker, trust administrators and others in financial transactions.

Technically, slander is an oral communication. Libel is in writing. Posting on a forum would be libel.

As a point of law, the one absolute defense against a charge of slander or libel is telling the truth. As our mad king is definately a liar and a cheat, it is difficult to conceive how one might be convicted.

There is one more day. Memorial day. That is not to say Bush disgraced himself last Memorial Day, to be fair he did not, but in general that day is even more solemn than Veterans Day, IMO.
