This is pretty much a free for all but I would definitely like to hear peoples opinions on the subject.

I dont think he's a loony. He has a certain view of the world and acts in a way according to that belief. You can argue if his view of the world is correct and if the methods he employs are helping him to achieve his goals. Now if you say he appears to be a bit 'simple' and 'blunt' then yes, I would say he appears that way.
