Volconvo's Most Idiotic Statements

I started a few threads to flame specific members, using their own dumbass quotes to ridicule them. That was fun, but there enough of us, and more importantly... enough boneheads, to open up an entire thread on the goofy blab some see fit to post.

This thread is not for picking on any one member, but is instead intended as an exposé of wacko crap proceeding from the members' consciousness, such as it is. No member is immune to the jabs, and I can't follow every thread, but if you find something somebody said that you find imbecilic, post it here for us all to lampoon. Please don't make shit up and attribute it to another member! Just quote, cut and paste!

Here's one I found today:

If only I had more time in my life right now...

There are some amazingly stupid statements that come to mind right now... if only the search function worked better.

dthmstr254, hopefully with complete regret, explains how one man is able to stand at the top of one of the twin towers and "miraculously" jump to safety when it collapses:

"he was the only one who jumped. and i will explain how it is not impossible.
he jumped at the time that the building collapsed. when the building collapsed the air under it had to go somewhere. so it went out and the man basically came down on top of a plume of wind which slowed him down because the friction and air resistance was high enough to make the terminal velocity of his body lot lower than the usual velocity."

If anyone can make sense of this, go ahead and try. I read this quote, then thought about it, then considered myself .5% dumber after reading it. This is physics gone bad.

How about reading the comment in context?
Who's in charge here? Reflections on disaster response

Why should anyone pity people who are too stupid/lazy/apatetic/proud to evacuate when they had ample opportunity? I have plenty of sympathy for people who are the victim or random circumatance, like the people who died in 9/11. I even have sympathy for everyone who lost thier house in the hurricane. But I can't have pity for those who are stranded by thier own fault.

And yet you are unwilling to adress my point in either thread. You can call it idiotic if you want, but saying that means nothing. Back it up with a rebuttal, instead of trying to tear it down on face.

I tell ya what Prometheus: You prove they had "ample opportunity to evacuate" and I'll apologize in the thread for targeting you unfairly... until then, your statement remains a heartless idiocy.

Let's be careful with the term "prove", but I have good evidance. Of course you will have to take my word for it.

My friend saw cops knocking on doors. Every street was drived through with a truck brodcasting the message.

The best observation is that as she left town, whe saw busses from neighboring towns going back empty. There busses had been sent especially to take people out, and no one would get in. The people whe were left were left because they either chose not too, or were so civically apathetic that they were oblivious as to what was going on.

But that isn;t what is being reported. No one wants to hear that its thier own damn fault. They would rather throw up thier hands and blame this countries favorite scapegoat - Bush.

This another one-liner for the thread?

Let's be reasonable. Since I am relating personal testimony, I can;t verify it to you short of meeting my witness in person. If you are calling me a liar then this whole discussion is moot anyway.

Prometheus' account of what happened is plausible and could be true though.

"to free a nation for tyrany."

Good one. Another Logjam special:

Quote:
Tolerance will begin when Liberalism is irradicated.
"Irradicate" means "to root deeply". I presume he meant "eradicate" meaning "to destroy utterly", but who knows. He probably wants to "irradicate" tyranny too.
