Blair Govt hysteria over non-existent 'terrorist threat'

One of the more disgusting things the American lacky Tony Blair has done, next to invading peace-loving Iraq and helping the Americans overthrow the beloved leader of the Iraqi people, is to pretend there is some sort of "terrorist threat" in Britain.

Hundreds of innocent Muslims have been arrested, and later released without charge, showing that they are completely innocent of all wrong-doing.

At the same time, no Christians or Jews have been arresed, showing the blatant racist profiling of this this Government. Why pick on Muslims?

In any case, the so-called "terrorist threat" is a complete myth -- hopefully our new Member of Parliament, Comrade George Galloway, will refute this imperialist slander, so that the people of Britain may relax and live their daily lives without fear.

This has to be a wind up or sarcasm. I am not however convinced yet it is terrorists, although it certainly looks that way. I will wait for more evidence.

Today in London bombs exploded in the underground - still think the threat is non-existent?

Let's just remember that it's London so it could just as likely be the IRA as much as it could be Al
Quaeda. Add G8 and the Olympics into the scenario and who knows who started it.

rcne - we've had bombs go off for the past 30 years, and you think we never knew about terrorism?? We're certainly more aware than the average American.

One thing we have to be careful of is what bad news the govt decides to release today that will be overshadowed. Maybe they are bringing in road charging per mile or something.

They probly planned to release a shedload during the G8 summit anyhow....so I wouldn't expect much different.

Don't talk daft, no warnings?? Dissident republican splinter groups maybe, but the Provos?? Not their style, they much prefer the panic and mayhem caused by warnings than the actual bombs themselves, they view deaths as an added bonus.

The fact that Britain is holding the G8, current president of the EU and now the recipient of the Olympics, must be like all their birthdays come at once for the sick bastards who did this.

Definately non-IRA, given the amount of crap they're getting over that bouncer that got killed. The last thing they want is anything looking like they're still involved in an armed struggle.

And yes, we are a nice, juicy, high-profile target right now.

Isn't England taking its 6 month stint as President of the EU? Right now all eyes are on England.

The G8, the EU presidency and the Olympics. In either case this was a premeditated and well designed event to cripple London.

Great Britain, not England, but yes. Sorry to be pedantic, but if we had any Welsh or Scots posters on here, you'd understand.

I personally wonder how long before martial law comes down.

I mean after all....

“Whenever we are attacked, people are willing to give up someone else's liberties for their own security.”
-Andrew P. Napolitano, on FNC, 2004-Dec-18

“We must sacrifice our civil liberties.”
-Brent Scowcroft, in the immediate aftermath of the 2001-Sep-11 terrorist campaign

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed -- and thus clamorous to be led to safety -- by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”
-H.L. Mencken

“Winston could not definitely remember a time when his country had not been at war”
-George Orwell, 1984

“Facts must be distorted, relevant circumstances concealed, and a picture presented which by its crude coloring will persuade the ignorant people that their Government is blameless, their cause is righteous, and that the indisputable wickedness of the enemy is beyond question.
A moment's reflection would tell any reasonable person that such obvious bias cannot possibly represent the truth. But the moment's reflection is not allowed; lies are circulated with great rapidity. The unthinking mass accept them and by their excitement sway the rest.
The amount of rubbish and humbug that pass under the name of patriotism in wartime in all countries is sufficient to make decent people blush when they are subsequently disillusioned.”
-Arthur Ponsonby, Falsehood in Wartime, 1928

The situation is a hell of a long way from Martial law being declared.

Absolutely. Like I said before, bombs in major cities is no new thing for us.

Actually guys, I meant here in the U.S. martial law would be declared, because of our wonderful presidents vision for the future.
