The strength if of what is in space is off the scale compared to in the atmosphere here on earth where lead does block certain radiations.

Even going up only thousands of feet in a plane can have us exposed to doses of radiation that would be like getting a full set of Xrays in a few hour trip.

Well, going to the moon or hanging out in space or going to mars is a far worse continuous dose of radiations.

A few times I heard it reported that if some of the sun flares were in our direction with the international space station exposed, the men up there could easily be killed.

It is THE serious issue and what keeps up out of space and Mars.

Bad astronomy

I didn't see anybody else post this. This site is great. The message board has an entire section dedicated to this. Phil, "the bad astronomer" (actually, a VERY good astronomer) believes WE DID land on the moon and that most scientists agree. I encourage reading the topics on whether or not we went to the moon.

The major problem is with TV programs is that the writers ,producers & actors
are not scientists or engineers They really dont know fact from fiction & are willing to believe any crackpot if it generates a buck. THE USA WENT TO THE MOON! THEY LANDED THERE! THEY CAME BACK! lol you fools. THE WORLD IS NOT FLAT!
YOU CAN CROSS THE VAN ALLEN BELT LOL.

NOW LETS GO TO MARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love these threads, and the people pushing the Appollo program was BS.

They always fail to answer two simple questions; If we faked it, how'd they keep the THOUSANDS of Nasa workers in the dark. And how'd they keep all those people involved in faking it silent after all these years??

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

Hey, Vicchio, what are you trying to do? You're going to mess up a good conspiracy theory.

"They" have answered those questions. Nasa ran drills all the time. They would run simulations without the people on the ground even knowing it. There is a great documentary that proves that they AT LEAST faked the first moon landing. After that, who knows? How do you keep people quiet? You threaten their children or set them up for blackmail like the child slave trade does here in the U.S.

ARGH visist that bad astronomy site PLEASE. Phil debunks that "documentary".

Also remember what vicc said, with SOOOOOOOO many scientists that worked on the first moon landing, there would be more coming forward. The whole thing witht the simulations is bunk too.

For every secret, the chance of it becoming known grows with each person that knows its fake. So if you think about it, to fake the Moon landings, lets call it 100 peeps would HAVE to know its fake.

What are the chances of 100 people keeping thier traps shut for... what 40 years now?

And why fake something that would eventually be discovered as BS. I.E. a satiliite around the moon taking shots of the landing sites and finding nothing.

Wouldn't the Soviets be able to tell that the Apollo landers never left Earth orbit? Wouldn't they go out of thier way to make the USA look like BS?

I forgot. Those astronauts brought back moon rocks. Any idea where they could have found several hundred pounds of moon rocks on earth? Maybe a roadside tourist trap in Arizona?

Call it "bunk", the footage of the astronouts faking the shots of earth from space is in the public arena. It's proven. Maybe there is an explaination for them faking stuff but I have yet to see it.

I have just finished watching a TV programme where they showed pictures of the "man walking on the moon"... and I looked up my OWN little picture of that and found that what they were saying isi n fact correct. The pictures that were taken, have little crosses marked on them in certain places. Now, these crosses should appear IN FRONT of the actual image itself.. however, in about three different photo's there seems to be a jumble of these crosses that actually appear behind the image, suggesting that the images are fake. Also.. I know from my own studies that space is a dangerous place, and that well.. it is near impossible for any man made object to get through the "sky" - so to speak-... I mean, even ROCKs cannot get throughour sky without falling to peices, and it is obvious that there is something amiss here, cuz... they have got someone on the moon once... why can't they do it again? I think that everything surrounding that is just a little off center and... some of the things I have read have been very different and I think it's just a little strange thats all. Could someone have a look at this, cuz from my point of view, I think the whole thing is a bit of a SHAM. I guess, that's governments for you though. :) xoxo
<hr size="1" /></blockquote><span class='postcolor'>

Yes there were several. Some antiscience nutcases, and a few anti-government ones, just can't pass up the opportunity to try to discount anything done by their 'enemies.' Note that the US was in a race with the USSR to put humans on the moon, and that the USSR monitored the US activities closely, including having a spacecraft near the moon at the time of the Apollo 11 landing. The U.S. could not have "Capticorn-I'ed" that one. In short, yes NASA put several people on the moon. Adjust to it!

(For those who don't know, Capricorn I was a wonderful movie with Telly Savalas, in which the idea is that the US faked a Mars landing. When the return capsule was destroyed upon earth reentry, the astronauts who were supposed to have gone to Mars were suddenly officially dead; and the action was those astronauts trying to keep the government from making them actually dead. Great chase scene with black helicopters chasing a crop duster (piloted by Savalas) through western canyons. The most unrealistic, laughable element was the government faking communications between Mars astronauts and their wives without speed-of-light delays.)

Rox. I already said that footage was used to illustrate, to the public, what was happening on the moon. It was billed as such at the time. There was NO attempt at subtrafuge. Walter Cronkite told us that the footage was generated earthside for the aforementioned purpose. Now, thirty years later, you kids who weren't there at the time, claim this footage is part of some sort of conspiracy to defraud the populace. COME ON. Don't you have better things to do that perpetuate urban myth?

NUMBER ONE:

Are you sure we are talking about the same footage? I'm talking about a shot of earth, taken from inside the shuttle where the astronauts describe the camera being against the window pointing towards earth. In actuality, the camera is against THE BACK of the craft and the round window, where only the earth is visible, is made to look like IT IS THE earth with the darkened walls of the spacecraft looking like space.

NUMBER TWO:
Walter Cronkite likes to dress up in black hooded robes and burn children in effigy beneath a statue of Moloch, the Babylonian god.

I love conspiracy...but this one is too thin. I saw the moon rocks in Houston.

And just to stir the pot a little. How do you know they are moon rocks and not something fabricated on Earth?

Dan Rather saw JFKs head go "forward with considerable violence" so I guess seeing is believing.

Rox., I've not seen the picture you're describing. Other media commentators said the same thing about the moon landing pictures I described. So, of you don't like Cronkite, and I really don't care for him either, take your pick of the others.
