Ah, diplomatic pressure. Now we're talking! Er...what sort of diplomatic pressure, exactly?
"You're f*cking with the wrong country", for starters.... Kim Jung Ill is hardly a threat to the US. But Bush and Co. like to make people look like raving madmen so he has been PRed into such. I'm not saying he isn't a tyranical despot but he's hardly a threat to us.

Didn't he just develop missles that can carry his nuclear weapons to the west coast of the US? I think that's a threat to us.

Not sure...does he have nuclear weapons that can reach our west coast?

Even worse...imagine the worse thing an A-Rab could do to you and multiply it by a thousand. That's Goldstein. Beware Goldstein and his agents. They hate us for our freedoms.

Who's talking about Goldstein? We're talking about Kim and his nuclear toys. Get back on topic. Just how exactly do you suggest that we 'exert diplomatic pressure' on him?

Interesting article this: http://www.dailystar.com/dailystar/printDS/60952.php

'Daniel Goure, a Defense Department official in the first Bush administration, said there's another reason for the different treatment of Iran and North Korea: Iran might be more persuadable by strong words than North Korea.

"North Korea is a basket-case state. It's a total rogue regime. I don't think that when you look at the nature of the regime, any of the proposals for how to work a deal are credible," said Goure. "But I think there is a view in the administration that Iran can change. The mullahs are not forever. Iran may be radical and difficult, but it is not crazy."'

Goldstein is the supposedly mythical enemy preached by Big Brother in Orwell's 1984. Similarly, it may be said that North Korea is a mythical threat conjured by the US government.

I am very skeptical that North Korea is a threat to anyone. In fact, I think an attack on North Korea could cause more harm than good. You would have millions of refugees swarming into China, Russia, and South Korea. A collapsing North Korean regime may fire off their stocks of WMD at everyone around them. South Korea will likely also collapse under artillery and missile attacks.

How many civilian deaths do you think 50 years worth of missiles can cause?

Oh, OK nothing to be worried about then. Why are we even talking to the guy? Let's ignore him, shall we?

I agree. Ignoring North Korea has always worked in the past; they were silent for 50 years. It was only Bush's "Axis of Evil" policy which scared them into speaking up.

North Korea Boasts It Has More Bombs

SEOUL, South Korea -
North Korea boasted it was building more nuclear bombs and had the ability to arm them on missiles, and South Korea's leader headed Thursday to Washington to discuss deadlocked efforts to get the communist state to disarm.

North Korea is widely believed to have enough weapons-grade plutonium for a half-dozen nuclear bombs. Asked by ABC News if it was building more, Vice Foreign Minister Kim Gye Gwan said: "Yes."

"As for specifically how many we have, that is a secret," he said.

Kim also implied the North was able to mount nuclear warheads on its missiles which, if true, would be a potentially significant advance for the communist state.

"Our scientists have the knowledge, comparable to other scientists around the world," he said.

Though there was no way to confirm North Korea's claims, Japan responded by saying it believes North Korea's nuclear weapons programs are "considerably advanced."

Perhaps if you made a serious topic starter thread, I would not ask such a question.
Why do you respond to it if you don't like the topic?

A question for tinybear... will YOU be enlisting in the military to actively engage in this bit of skulduggery or will you be allowing others to do the dirty work for you?

No, I won't be enlisting 'cos they probably wouldn't take me and i'm not cut out to be a soldier anyway. I'd do a very bad job even if I'm accepted.

Well considering your profession, you could always..ah, "entertain" American soldiers in South Korea. That way you're contributing to the US war effort without having to shoot anyone.

It is my job to moderate threads; If you have a problem with that, address it to the admin.
