| Pragmatic liberal Posts: 421 | Ever consider just leaving? I look around me at my country (America) and I don't like what I see. I am a student of history and I see us heading down a road that others have traveled before us. And that road does not lead to a good place. There was a time in my life when I would have stood and fought to preserve my freedom, even if it was suicidal to do so. That was years ago when I was single. I now have a wife and a child, and I have to think about them too. There are times when I think that I have to get them out of this country to a place where I know they will be safe, relatively speaking of course. I guess my quesion is, does anyone else feel this way, or am I just being paranoid? I guess I'm just looking for a reality check here. |

When I have a family, I'm thinking of moving them to Swizerland. If a crisis breaks out back home in the UK that can be used to overturn it all, I'll be back in a heartbeat to do what I can. But currently it's a miserable position to be in, bad enough to scare those educated enough to see the future before them, but bad enough to push the populace into doing something about it. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. Winston Churchill |

Possibly even teaching English as a foreign language if there's nothing in my field (distribution/logistics). Had a peer at VSO.org, nothing there...yet. However, there are other charitable organisations about that I have yet to examine. Of course, I'm young (ish), free & single....so it's much easier for me to do. I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered. -George Best, on being asked what he did with his footballing fortunes. |

I have no skills that they'd want outside of the U.S. And, as Howard Zinn says, if I leave, I'll just become a victim of U.S. foreign policy, so I might as well stay and try to rectify the situation from here. |
