| Citizen #21521 Posts: 2,599 | Well if Drudge Report is meant to be biased.... Then why are liberals on this board getting news from revolutionary, anti-American sites? I mean some site with the title NEWS ABUT EVIL CORPORATIONS AND WHY AMRICANS ARE EVIL doesn't do anyone justice. Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you. |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 1 | My take on this: (1) Much of the public is going to roll their eyes when they hear "Drudge" and "sex scandal" and "Democrat" yet again. (2) This may actually help Kerry. Consider that Clinton was never more popular than when Monicagate was being investigated by the Republicans. It may humanize him, and earn him sympathy -- paradoxically. (3) Though I'm a Dean supporter, I suspect that if it *does* somehow get serious for Kerry, Edwards would get more of a bounce than Dean -- given who is supporting Kerry, and why. (4) I suspect that Kerry's people will succeed at mostly containing this story (a) among the right-wing media, where he wasn't getting support anyway, (b) by getting the mainstream press to focus on process and the fact that an "irresponsible" website made the allegations. So far tonight, the story is only being picked up on blogs, on foreign news sites, and on far-right newswires. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I have a roundup of early reactions at my site: http://hudson.typepad.com/line/2004/02/ker...s_been_dru.html I'm personally more interested in a more serious topic -- the 9/11 widows' attempts to force a true investigation of what happened that day: http://hudson.typepad.com/line/2004/02/911...vidence_hi.html |

| Igneous Magma Location: New York City Posts: 739 | 1) It was being AWOL for a year, not a week, after getting moved to the top of the list of the National Guard for being the son of a Congressman; compared to a decorated veteran. And the major part was, it meant somebody who didn't even put his time to complete his military duty started a war that meant the deaths of actual US servicemen. 2) Jimmy Carter and Michael Dukakis were buried under a torrent of Republican mudslinging, and as principled as they were in not fighting back in such a dirty way, it destroyed their political careers. Now, we know that if we want to combat the Republicans, we need people willing to be just as vile, disgusting, and reprehensible as O'Reilly, Pat, Rush, the Post and even your precious Drudge report. 3) If you EVER tell anyone to shut up again, Joegvb, I will boot you out of here so fast your head will spin. . . . whenever any government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such forms as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. |

| most likely drunk Location: Boston Posts: 103 | Republicans aren't looking too mighty right now with the Iraqi reconstruction project gone down the shitter, continuing unemployment, ruining crucila foreign relations with russia, germany, and france, and the fact that polls are reporting that Bush is equal, if not falling behind kerry by a small margin. The alleged allogations with against kerry is bullshit made dug up by republicans trying to distract americans from john kerry's war hero status. Bush's "military service" was dug up by democrats to discredit Bush and play off of kerry's 3 purple hearts, silver star, bronze star, olympic gold medal, and nobel prize, and whatever else he won. The same goes for Bush's coke habits in college and clinton tapping his interns, all were played out and exploit for their own political gains We're looking at the world through the barrel of a gun Are we ready? |

And even if nobody's being "booted out" of this board for his political views, RebelWithanAK actually could ban you technically. If you'd stop sounding so unbelievably naive and childish, someone might take you more seriously. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 649 | Hey Joe..... I re-read my post and even read your quote of me. I will post it here again. "If it were Kerry who had rumors about being AWOL for a week circulating and GW who just had... oh say the LA times.... breaking a story about having some tawdry affair how would your posts differ?" And you said "Sounds like a bash to me." Does it really? I was not accusing President Bush of going AWOL I just said it was being reported. Then I asked you if the reports were reversed with the people would your posts be different. But since that makes it obvious that you think even referrences to republicans are bashes let me put it in simpeler terms and not worry about bashing. I challange YOU to answer me this...... (to those more reasonable among you who read this I will explain that I do not necessarily believe the rumors I list below but I am making a point) Regan was dealing with our enemies in Iran trading guns for hostages then denying it. Bush Sr. Was head of the CIA but claimed he was out of the loop on Iran contra. Newt Gingrich was cheating on his wife as she died of cancer in her hospital bed. Henry Hyde said is affair was a "youthful indiscression". GW had a drink and drug habit that would have landed a less influential citizen in prison. The question is WITHOUT BASHING DEMOCRATS tell us how the republicans could possibly vote for such immoral individuals. It is just the same challange you made. You did not like anyone's answer so lets see how you fare with your own test. Protester against the culture war!!!! |

| former overlord Location: New York Posts: 2,383 | Joe, you've been warned....twice. Rebel can't ban anyone-only I can, so don't act like he has some sort of advantage. I will decide if you stay based on what the participants feel (and it doesn't look good), and depending on the rather flexible rules we have here (which you ignored). You're the first person to really ever make it come to this. We have many conservatives here with great arguments, and I'm sure you're not making them proud. Your account is suspended, and you'll probably be banned. I'm also closing this lovely topic you started Joe. So it goes |
