Made it safely into the Left corner (wipes brow) - thanks for having me.

I've read through a lot of the posts and I've discovered that this forum has the power of time-travel ... I look at the clock and four hours of darkness have past while I've been browsing!

Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself and say Hello.

I'm a Londoner living in the West Country - bit of a recluse - read books, study, think about things deeply - watch a lot of films, play the guitar, do a bit of writing - SF and poetry. I live alone with my dog Riff, a border collie with a white patch over his left eye. I listen to the Sex Pistols when I want to relax. True. For some reason that I don't quite understand, the band really chill me out. The dog hates it though - I have to play Henryk Gorecki to make it up to him.

If you've read some of my posts, you probably realize that I've got a problem with the right. I try to understand where they're coming from, but a lack of compassion can really rile me. On the whole though, I think I'm pretty quiet.

Look forward to new debate (I'll try to keep up) - and finding out a bit more about the rest of you established Lefties.

Glad to be part of this.

Welcome. I have a problem with the criminals that pass for "conservative" as well.

Well oh crap! I guess I'm a member too! I can post here! Goody. Thanks for having me. Damn, I'm hot. My ac has been broke down, the landlord is too damn lazy to get out here and fix it! Nothing like hot, humid Texas weather and box fans to slugglishly stir the air.

There is actually a fairly active progressive community here in Texas, but we are almost completely drowned out by the religious right.

Hi, I'm in Orange, CA. I go to Kaplan Online University and am trying to get my AA degree in paralegal studies. Algebra is kicking my ass. I haven't taken a math class in 20 years. It looks like I'm a bit older than a lot of you, 39. Anyway, I am also very glad to be here. I was invited to join the conservative group! Yikes! I responded to the email, WHY would I want to do that?
