If you believe in evolution:
Sex serves no purpose other than to keep the species going. Humans didn't evolve that way because it was necessary to our survival to have fun.

If you are a Christian (as I am):
Sex is simply to create children. You are using God's creations for your own personal benefit, and not for God's plan.

Dosen't the entertainment value of sex bring husbund and wive closer togather (both literally and figuratively)? A more loving relationship between spouses is a very christian idea.

Ask any christian, they will say that loving spousal relationships are something their chirch promotes.

So let me get this straight James - You think:

(1) We should have sex as infrequently as possible
(2) and not for the purpose of pleasure?

I take my religoin very seriously when it comes to sexual matters, but there is nothing that I get from it saying that it should not be enjoyable. It says somewhere in proverbs that "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine". There is nothing wrong with being happy, and a sexual relationship with your spouse is a great way to get there.

For your information, I plan to have many children. I'm not a mormon or anything, just Southern. I would see no problem with having up to ten children. I come from a big family, and the Bible says go forth and bear fruit.

There's no problem with it if it's for having children. I believe that if you would have sex and use a condom or have your wife use birth control, then it's wrong, and definitely with an abortion it's wrong.

Well, if killing sperm is bad, then there's no masturbation. Please tell me you aren't serious! Try, just try to stop a man from doing it, its practically impossible. What's more, if you don't "exercise the pipes" then the pipes deteriorate, and can no longer be used, which is in no-one's interest.

I am also religious, and i completely disagree. First of all, it is stupid, in my opinion, to go ahead and have 10 children, especially if you cannot support them effectively. Now, if you can, then good on you, but personally, i still want to have a loving relationship with my wife, drawing pleasure out of it, even after i have had children, and even when i don't want any more.

Coming from a family of three children, i found that it was hard enough for my mum and dad to get enough of an income to feed all of us, let alone clothe us properly, and yet still love us, and show that love every day. If you can't show your love to your children, or devote enough time to them, then you shouldn't have them, because they will be missing that love, and they will seek that attention elsewhere, and may be caused to sin. Now, if you cause a child to sin, you should be thrown into the sea of Galilee with a rock tied to your feet, from what it says in the Bible, so where does that lead you?

Furthermore, although you could see it as giving into temptation, one mustn't be so naive as to think that every tempation must be avoided. If that were so, i wouldn't bother with eating chocoate, or having a computer, or typing on this forum.

The arguement goes round and round in circles, and it is simply up to your interpretation of the Bible. This whole thing comes from a parable by Jesus who said "thou shalt not waste thy seed". Well, by that, what does the Bible mean? What is the seed? Taken literally, it means, don't waste seed. Well, i don't think i do, not as far as i know anyway. It just means don't waste to me, but i don't consider masturbating wasting, and i don't consider using a condom wasting sperm, because, although it isn't being used properly, it is giving you and your spouse joy, and strengthening your relationship, a relationship which is holy, and which should be cemented by an "agape" love.

Alright, listen. The way I see it is that if you're going to have sex, you should accept the consequences, good or bad. If you're going to have sex then it shouldn't be with birth control or anything; it's wrong if you try to just do it for the fun of it, if your wife gets pregnant, then so be it.

By the time I have a family, Bush will be out of the White House. He's not my favorite president, either, but he's not bad! And I would be proud to serve my country and also for my children to if they want to. And why would I castrate myself?!
