| BANNED-Warned multiple times about instigating. User then reported topics multiple times to mess with staff. Posts: 4,412 | Private Forums This is not well-thought out, so I'm posting it in the Boiler Room. I am hoping to start a thread about the private forums so we can see what kind of forums people would start, and how they would use them, and are using them. We already have a conservative political forum. What other forums do you want? Personally, I'd wonder about some kind of nontheist/materialist/skeptic/freethinker/bright forum and a leftist/progressive (left of kerry/clinton liberal types) political forum. I'll try posting a poll, but if it works, it will be limited and almost useless. I'm going to limit the poll to those who would think about using the forum, but other discussion about the private forums would be welcome. |

I'd definately say (given from what I've seen) that there's at least 3-5 definative sceptics/athiests/agnostics about the site....and as for us wishy-washy liberals, there's a fair few! ![]() Perhaps a non-American one? In that sense, I'm quite 'unique'. :) So, I don't I want to join any group. But, hey, if others wish to have private forums, it's OK by me. |

| Underground Man Location: Northern NY (AKA Canada) Posts: 31 | For politics, I'd like to see a Leftist/Progressive group (as you mentioned) and/or a Socialist group. I wouldn't mind seeing an Agnostic group, but I wouldn't join an Athiest themed group any more than I'd join one focused on any other religion, and I doubt there are enough Agnostics on here to support a group. ![]() Fyrdman Location: Middlesbrough UK Posts: 4,174 | I'd like to see an 'anything left of centre' group, so we can debate our own issues free from conservative whiners, while still being wide spread enough so we arn't limited to 'we're great, they suck!', like other narrowly specified groups may be..... ![]() 9/11: Inside Job Location: Hawai'i, Big Island Posts: 10,464 | I started a thread titled "Christians Only". This was so that I could discuss various issues that would bring only skepticism and vituperation from the God-haters here. But they couldn't resist posting in the thread anyway, so I let it drop. Maybe the closed forums are not so bad... If there was a Christians Only Forum, I guess only Christians would be allowed in... "Arms in the hands of the citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny or private self-defense." -- John Adams | |
