I keep on wondering why you like talking about repulsive, non-essential topics, tiny. Not every topic is equally worthy of discussion. You wondered why this got boiler roomed? So would coprophagia, necrophilia, obsession with pedophilia, etc. Sean doesn't want doodoo in his "nice" forums.

Stick to topics that have some importance to the real world...
I thought one had the freedom to discuss anything in this forum as long as the rules are observed. Obviously, you think differently.

if the human previously alive had consented to it (and they died of natural causes, or causes unrelated to the human-eater) than it should be okay. Why throw away perfectly good energy when it can be redistrubted into the biosphere instead of lumped into a coffin?

I've heard that human flesh tastes the same as a pig's because we're both omnivores. Is this true?
How would I know? Cannibalism is illegal and repulsive. I haven't tried it and wouldn't like to. Would you (if it were decriminalized)?

You can debate it, but it just was a poorly started topic, and the insults came in right after, so it fit better here.
Sean, why do you think it was a poorly started topic? Just curious.

And, as far as I can see, only one 'insult' followed. Say, are insults permitted here? Isn't that against the rules (to throw insults at another member of this forum?)

There was a recent cannibalism case in Germany - I'll see if I can dig it out.
I already supplied the link. Look on the first page.

Yeah I saw that. It says that the 'victim' consented to be eaten. So if the victim consents, is it still murder?

At the very least, assisted suicide.

Cheers Nono for the link.

A thorny legal question in any society that doesn't want that sort of thing to get out of hand.

Remember the Well-then-who's-going-to-eat-me? sketch by Monty Python?
Python thrived on the taboo, and the fact that sketches like that were so funny demonstrates how uncomfortable the very thought makes us.

I don't know that Monthy Python sketch, but like I said, cannibalism is viewed with disgust and hence the reason for it being banned. Not health reasons folks; it was banned on moral grounds and simply because it is yucky.

I wonder whether the term "yucky" appears in the statute concerned.

Well, actually, nobody has yet confirmed that cannibalism is illegal. But I assume so.

call me a fool (I very well may be) but in this world, mass cannibalism is the only way to make it better. think about it, it would cure two majour problems. world hunger and overpopulation. sure, it'd never work, because there would have to be strict rules, but theoretically...assuming we were all animals of the planet, it would be the only way. and after all, we ARE animals of the world, we just have something called society.

It won't work. We're too civilized for that sort of thing now.

If life begins with orgasm, would oral sex be a form of cannibalism?
Just curious.

Lots of people are willing to donate their organs after they die, so why not their flesh? Well, for the sake of argument, let's suppose there are some people who would be willing to donate their flesh to be consumed after their death for a certain fee payable to them immediately, would the law permit this contract to be enforced?
This discussion is so revolting, I may not be able to hold down my lunch (which was a salad, luckily). Regardless, I think the line has to be drawn at the point where something makes the majority of people on the planet hurl.

Now that's a far better topic for discussion

It seems like in overpopulated areas it should be mandatory .
I can see how, on a spiritual level, how they may value the potential for a sacred life, aborted. How they may consider "consenting" adults to be in fact "conspiring" adults. I dont like it, but I see it. I believe in 100% responsibility for both individuals 50% contribution for the life they may create. If one or both cannot possibly fulfill their responsibility for a life, any physiological release of stress should be an acceptable alternative, legally, so long as all parties involved/witnessing are consenting and do not offend. We are granted but 3 forms of physiological release of psychological stress: 1) Laughter 2) Crying 3) Orgasm. It would be obsurd to outlaw anything so natural and necessary.

What are you talking about?

Hey, no one's responded to my statement: cannibalism's banned 'cos most of us feel it's immoral. Therefore what society thinks is immoral is banned. Ergo, morality is enforced by the law. It's a fact, ain't it? What do you think?
