Sounds OK 2 me 2.
How about "Footnotes from the Fringe"?

Or "Flames Licking at the Fringe"

Or "Not My Magma-nation"

:)
Edit:
Bleh, I am not an ad man.

I still think there needs to be a new category, not a new name for the same one. "Off the Beaten Path" or something for new ideas/unproven theories, etc. These are not negative topics and shouldn't be put in with them.

After all, many of the things now accepted as fact were once only theories, many so contested that society spurned those who believed in them!

Sort of an anything goes forum.
Call it "The Cage" maybe? But that still sounds like punishment. Sheesh, we just want to talk. We didnt do anything wrong. None of the other topics have a stigma attatched to them. Its not like we are trying to prove the moon is green cheese. Crop Circles are not my bag. But they do exist. Flame-Fest is where you put , um flame-fests. Raving lunatics and the bad boys. Its a free for all where you can cuss and bang your head and stomp and get away with anything except threats of violence.

How about adding a sub topic to Science/Technology named: Science Fact or Fiction? Or, Hey Pin that threadScience Fact or Fiction? in Sci/Tech , you can always un-pin it later, I think that may fix the prob.

Unless it became popular, I know Sci-Fi is a HUGE market, Trekkies and Star Wars fans may want to start their own threads, I like Douglas Adams, myself.

If Science Fact or Fiction? gets just a thread, Volcans (not Vulcans) may butt in to existing discussions

I vote for a Sub Topic in Sci/Tech
Leave Flame Fest alone, it serves its own purpose
I agree with Mia.

Of course, its Seans castle, I defer to the boss.

I agree with me too. But now we've hijacked this whole thread, and Sean started a new one on a new name for flame fest, which hopefully turns into a new category instead, but anyhoo....we should discuss it in there.

Hey Bishop,

Yea, I actively monitor the forums and have the ability to play favorites

I can not believe you would be crazy enough to think I can keep an eye on every topic. You know damn well that if you reported a topic I would evaluate it and respond to you.

Oh an Ironic that you are pretending to be concerned about this, yet you ignore Pat's last post within this, and merely came to insult me.

i didn't mean to pretend as if i was concerned.. i'm not concerned. but, there is a lack of consistency, and a lack of consistency creates problems.

i also don't expect you to keep an eye on every topic - isn't that what you have all these moderators for??

It is impossible to be 100% consistent-moderators or not. The only way we can get closer to that is if you guys actively demand good topics by reporting ones that need to be moved to others areas, etc.

The moderators also cannot be expected to monitor EVERY topic. It is like saying the police can catch every criminal.

Now if we could stop with this distraction, and see if people respond to the actual subject here (for once within this topic) perhaps it can be moved somewhere-but I am not sure where.

Split from original topic as the flame-fest is not a proper alternative in its current form.

Whose idea was the name 'Boiler Room'? I like it.
