Also Colin, as to which candidate is more "conservative" that is debatable as well. If by conservative you mean uphold the constitution with respect to freedom which is a value that this country was founded on then Dubya is not a conservative. He is a fanatic. Kerry has a religious conviction against abortion the same as Bush but respects the traditional American values of liberty, freedom and equality. This is why he will not allow is personal religious views to interfere with his sworn duty as President to uphold the constitution. This is something that Bush has been completely unable to do because he is a religious fanatic. If you listened carefully last night you would have heard Kerry over and over reassert his commitment to traditional values of freedom by amending the patriot act to protect those freedoms, his commitment to equality by getting the rich to carry their fair burden of our society and by upholding the constitution by not allowing his personal religious convictions to interfere with protecting the freedoms of all Americans, not just the Christians. You see if the government advocates any particular religion's take on something rather than take the religiously neutral secular take then it is imposing those view on people that do not believe in that particular religion. It is the destruction of religious freedom. Bush is a typical Christian that believes in religious freedom but only for Christians. Anyone that votes for Bush is striking a blow against traditional American values and supporting the Christian Fascist march to create the Second Holy Christian Empire.

... but i never said i support Bush. :)

But i do disagree with almost every theory Kerry has of 'fixing' "problems". He's just a finger-pointer guided by the vague wave of "WAR or NO WAR".

Colin, I would like to see more choices in our political system as well. All we are allowed to choose is macaroni and cheese or mashed potatoes under the current system. I would like to see real voting system reform, not just swapping out the old voting machines that allowed recounts with systems that have no accountability. I would like to see the electoral collage abolished, and have the national level offices of president/vice president decided only by popular vote, and if the people can't decide then the old president stays in and if he has served his limit then the vice president serves and we get to elect the vice president. I would like to see the two party system torn down. I would like to see ballots with rankings rather than the all or nothing that we currently have. I would like to see primaries eliminated. I would like to see laws put on the books that only allowed short campaigns with free political advertisements mandatory for all broadcasters, both radio and cable and that the adds are only allowed from the candidates campaigns and not any outside third party. And no political ads supporting or attacking a particular candidate or candidate’s position from any source other than candidates. There is so much that could be done that would give people choice instead of this system based on insider control and patronage that currently exists.

Also just to add an interesting wrinkle to this discussion, if everyone could post to this thread a list ranking the three candidates by preference. At this time I would rank as following:

1. Kerry
2. Nader
3. Bush

So you support Nader. Well guess what. Nader is not going to win. If you want to help Bush win then vote for Nader. Bush would really like that.

You type way to much to TRY and make a point. Perhaps you should study Lincon. And sadly, on your 3rd reply you put words in my mouth suggesting I support Nader.

GLHF!

Who i support is irrelevant; I support concepts of running a nation, concepts of domestic and international affairs, concepts that Bush and his running mate reflect and express in 'debatable detail'.

Kerry still sounds like a vague campaign speech with little reason rather, only the revelation of a "great error in the administration". The FEW methods to acheive his goals are rediculous in REALITY but sound good to the average listener.

Not every viewpoint Bush expressed do I agree with nonetheless, he -- a shortcoming for us -- leads the party that has more values I agree with. I wish Chenney was running TBH. But whatever, that's neither here nor there.

If this was a perfect world -- for each his own -- Colipublican would be my choice. :)

Colin, methinks thoust doest not have the courage of thy convictions. And Cheney is a bigger disaster than Bush. At least Bush is moderated by some of the more charitable aspects of Christianity. Chaney is a plain old died in the wool fascist. He is the one actually running the country and a great deal of the fascist ideas that come out Bush's mouth come from Chaney. Bush sure as hell is not listening to his dad.

I can now see why you favor Bush/Cheney. No problems. Even morons should be represented in our government. However in the slim chance that you are capable of being educated you should know that fascist is a word. It's in the dictionary. You know, that book with words used in the English language.

Main Entry: fas·cism
Pronunciation: 'fa-"shi-z&m also 'fa-"si-
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces fasces
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality -- J. W. Aldridge>
- fas·cist /-shist also -sist/ noun or adjective, often capitalized
- fas·cis·tic /fa-'shis-tik also -'sis-/ adjective, often capitalized
- fas·cis·ti·cal·ly /-ti-k(&-)lE/ adverb, often capitalized
Bush/Cheney qualifies under 2. Bush for the strong Christian convictions he holds and has no problems forcing on all those who do not hold such convictions. And Cheny for his vision of the Great American Empire along with the rest of the neo-cons with his policy of unilateral, unprovoked military intervention anywhere in the globe.

Isn't that an opinion. Do you have evidence to prove that one is smarter than the other?

Just wondering.
