Ok. First off, a "Stupid," in the words of Mycroft Holmes III, is a person lacking a working grasp of logic, evidence, and rational thought. In other words, your basic brain-dead sheoplistic MORON.
And the subject of today's Butterface Rant, ladies and gentlement, is the confluence of Stupids and the Gun Control debate. Having just been informed by yet another low-lying piece of pondscum mascarading as a journalist that my "assault weapon" in the closet, the "assault shotgun" under my bed, and the various-and-assorted handguns with which I shoot targets, squirrels, and the occaisional washing-machine "have no place in the Civillian world" I have just about had it.
How many of these twinks have ever actually seen a gun? Other than the one Officer Jackboot wears on his overstressed pistol belt, I mean? Have they ever actually shot a gun, or been around people who regularly do? NO! I remember one article ( op-ed, naturally ) in the a paper from Ohio, wherein the author bloviated that they would never even consider holding a gun or going to a shooting range, because they were afraid they might start LIKING IT. I mean, God Forbid that you actually UNDERSTAND what you're writing about! I certainly hope this male ( I won't deign to call it a Man ) never has to protect anyone or anything more important than his lunch money, because a panty-wetter like this would be worse than useless.
How many times do I have to listen to these uninformed, ignorant, mean-spirited bigots tell me that, because of the hobby/lifestyle that I practice, that I am some sort of ticking bomb? How many times must I be subjected to the specious, rediculous idea that because of the configuration of my rifle I may start mowing people down at random? How many times do my friends have to feel like second-class citizens because we go to IDPA matches, or the Knob Creek Shoot?
I have HAD IT with this crap. We gunowners jump through an array of hoops that no other set of people would even CONSIDER dealing with. Imagine if you wanted to buy a car. Imagine that, before you could buy your car, you had to fill out a form ( front and back ) almost as long as your arm, providing your SSN, birthdate, place of residence, driver's license ##, and an ever-expanding array of other personal information. Imagine you had to go through a background check from an agency known to be openly hostile to the idea of private car-ownership. And now imagine that, after all this, some the bottomfeeding slime we call the Media go a LOONG way out of their way to stereotype you as a dangerous, bigoted, backwards, archaic "Car nut" or "car-rights extremist" when you object, or when you own more than X number of cars. NOW do you see the point, you crowd of hypocritical hacks?!
Now, imagine that because aforementioned Media Whores have created an unfounded, fallacious fear of, say, Sports Cars, that 70% of the Public supports "some limitations" on Sports Cars. What would you say to that? How about;
FUCK OFF!!!!
Yeah, that's what I thought you'd say. After all, what do those minivan-driving Soccer Moms have to say about your Mustang, right? RIGHT!

So what do this crowd of journalistic pantywetters and their paymasters in Washington have to say about my FAL?! NOTHING!!

Hey assholes: ( Ms. Feinsten, Mrs Clinton, Mr. Bush, this means you guys too! ) BUTT OUT!! I don't care what 70% of the public thinks! I don't care what the Brady Bunch says or what lies they spout! And I certainly don't care what a glorified welfare-queen like YOU THINKS!! Come to think of it, I have the weapons I do have either to protect myself from the criminals you all made your careers defending, or from YOU! So you can take your "Assault Weapons Ban" and your Violence Policy Center and Bowling for Columbine and your National Firearms Act and your PATRIOT ACT and most ESPECIALLY your BATFeeb hired guns, and you can BLOW 'EM OUT YOUR ASS!!

Here's some more news for you. While this rant certainly doesn't betray this, I am not a knuckledragging, wife-beating, beer-swilling hick. Neither are any of my friends. I am also not a skinheaded white-supremacist looking for an opportunity to hose down the first NAACP meeting I come across. Neither are any of my friends. I speak 3 languages, and I'm working on the 4th as we speak. I'm college-educated. All of my friends and family are in roughly the same position. So are all of my associates within the gunowning community. Believe it or not, we're actually human beings, and decent ones at that.
Yes, we like to shoot. We even like to shoot the "AK-47s and Uzis" that you bedwetters fret about so much. Occaisionally, we even shoot up harmless bottles, appliances, old cars, empty soda-cans, and the odd treestump: but never a Human Being. Some of us even hunt with such weapons; they're reliable, comfortable to shoot, easy to use, and inexpensive enough for those of us fortunate enough not to live in gated communities with armed gaurds ( Hear that, Ms. Clinton, Mr. Kerry?! THE LITTLE PEOPLE LIKE TO HUNT TOO! )

But here's the thing to really, really keep in mind, all you Kerrys and Bushes out there:
I enjoy my weapons...
I hunt with them...
I take them to "sporting" matches.
But these are not their ultimate purposes. Their ultimate purpose is to defend my happy ass from worthless social parasites like you and your assclown accomplices in the Media. Your "sporting purpose" bullshit doesn't fly here, and your "you don't need that!" is easily countered by "You just proved how MUCH I need that!" And the next time you scumsucking op-ed writers pen one of your screeds portraying me and mine as some kind of dangerous, backward White Trash, I hope someone sues your ass off for Libel and leaves you with the shirt on your back.
No other group is subjected to this kind of garbage in the major media; Imagine if Blacks were constantly being told, in a hundred thinly-veiled ways, that were nothing but ignorant threats to society who deserved whatever they got. Imagine, as I said before, jumping through a dozen assinine hoops to buy a car, and more hoops yet to use it! Can you even begin to imagine the uproar from something like that? I didn't think so.

So: here's the deal. You keep printing this trash; keep calling me and my friends the vile, worthless sociopaths you obviously believe us to be, and someone ( maybe even me ) is going to sue your ignorant ass off. Maybe one day one of those Korean Los Angelenos who defended their shop with a dreaded AK-47 with walk up and pimp-slap you across your lying mouth...and I will sit back and laugh until I burst.
Or shut your lying, libelous, hypocritical mouths.

Just a quote that jumped out at me: From my memories of some of the threads in question, and there are a couple running right now I believe (let's face it, it's a perrenial argument, especially when we start shouting across the Atlantic at each other), some of the pro-gunners themselves do a pretty good job as coming across as extremist and unstable.... If you want to make sure that you don't get stereotyped, then being a little more careful with the "don't come tresspassing on my land... BOOM! You can't tresspass with a bullet in your head, dead guy" kind of comments would help a lot. That way your message of responsible gun-ownership would come across a lot clearer, and sound more convincing.

Case in point - look at the dates when you post, people - this thread was dead since 23rd August last year - can we let some die, seeing as we've got about 6 on the front page now, all with exactly the same arguments???

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

No gun owner that I know thinks that it's okay to shoot a trespasser. You can only shoot a gun, use deadly force, if someone's life is in danger, that means yours or someone elses.

No clear thinking gun owner wants to take pot shots at someone lerking about in the orchard. Furthermore, everyone understands that if you actually shoot someone you are going to have a hell of a mess to clear up with the cops. You certainly don't want to murder someone.

Moreover, I think that Europeans don't understand that in the US guns and gun ownership is commonplace. To you guys guns are extremely rare. Here they are like a hammer and saw. They are a tool. Millions of Americans shoot often. There are about 300,000 guns owned by about 200,000 citizens. Many Amerians shoot constantly, ever week; many hunt daily during the season.

I think that most Europeans shutter when they see a gun. An American, however; will go over to it, open it up, check that it's unloaded and then hold it up and comment on the gun's "feel". In many households guns are leaning in the corners, in plain sight. Kids are taught not to mess with them. In these households kids are taught to shoot at about age six....or less. There are specific guns made for children, many thousands are sold.

So the mind set concerning guns is very different between Europe and America. In the US gun ownership is no big deal unless someone wants to abolish it. Then Americans get pretty exercised about it.

The Left in this country trys to paint gun owers as redneck wackos. That's just not the case.......BTW: My neck is a little pink and I'm proud of it.

I agree with the gunrights theme of this thread and unified position that Americans of various stripes stand firmly upon. Self-defense is our natural right as a human being. But Logjam, I think there is something wrong with your figures...
