| technę Posts: 2,750 | The Army National Guard My opinion is based solely on this video and nothing else. YouTube - Kid Rock Warrior Video Guns, hero's , Nascar, and Rock seem to be the words that come to mind when I watch this video. Obviously, this is an Army advertisement, but I can't help but laugh at the lameness of this though. Are we seriously going to equate our military with such shallow and generic advertising? Shouldn't recruiting for the army be more of a serious matter? Let's forget politics for a moment and take a deep breath. People who buy into this shit are really over in Iraq right now fighting? Personally, I don't want people shallow and stupid enough to actually be persuaded by this video to be fighting in Iraq. Can I be against the Iraq war based on the idea that Military advertising looks like its done by beer belly southerns that couldn't graduate highschool? The military has always tried to push the "duty, honor, courage" aspect of service and neglected the fact that you have to be dependent on them to survive. -Chris "I guess we are the people our parents warned us about." |

I mean look at how many people are still defending the war in Iraq even on this site. That's the propaganda and sadly it works well at producing the robots required to kill. Scary hey. I reject your reality and insert my own! |

SEALS still listen to rock music but don't get NASCAR: YouTube - US Navy Recruiting Ad The Navy officer recruitment posters have chess pieces on them. I can't seem to find a picture but people have probably seen them. Destroying America one Volconvo post at a time. The brain is like a muscle. When it is in use we feel very good. ![]() Igneous Magma Posts: 192 | The UK adverts are depressingly sensible: Army: Be The Best - lots of stories of soldiers lives on duty, and cutting in real life jobs for the TA (Territorial Army). Navy: Stories of soldiers and what they get up to - like the Electrician who boards a suspected arms carrying ship to fix the lights so they can search the boat etc.... Air Force: You don't have to be a pilot to Fly. All the different things you can do in the RAF - let's face it though, we'd all love to be pilots! Can't remember the Royal Marines ads, they probably involve men carrying broken tanks whilst rescuing injured civilians and storming weapons bunkers simultaneously - usual Marine days.. |

If we take it to the opposite extreme and make the commercial very serious what do you think would happen and how do you think the commercial would be filmed? Bombs blowing individuals limbs off. Large sharp metal objects being jammed in people's bodies. Brains and guts being splattered on the floor. Oh wait, we want people to join the army -- not run away from it. Quote:

Advertising tactics like these are despicable and really just further prove to me that people will do something if a celebrity glamorizes it first. I have no problem with trying to get people to join, but when your only methods of doing so are mediocre rock songs and empty catch-phrases that make killing people sound really really cool, you have to step back and reevaluate what it is you're getting people to do here. It's a huge sacrifice putting your life on the line for something, don't cheapen it. "People always associate long hair with drug use.
