Holy figures on trees, on food, even on your cat

Why is it people keep seeing holy figures in their food, on plants, and even on their cats fur. Now people are coming forward saying that their cat has jesus on it's back: Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

Are they really divine signs, or are these people crazy or extremely gullible?

It's actually a well known phenomena:

Pareidolia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It also drives the design of many things, from autos to electrical outlets.

However, even with the pictures showing me "Jesus" all I see is a blob of fur.

People see whatever they want to see. I find it ridiculous that such things would be so highly publicized.

Did they groom the dog to get that? The quality here is far above your average holy grilled cheese sandwich; details such as the hands clearly show. I think this one is real.

I think it goes without saying the any suggestion to invade Canada is mind-numbingly stupid.

Meh, anybody with a dark room can do multinegative overlays. Computers just make fakery simple enough to be fun. We live in the golden age of frauds and falsehoods.

Well (goes off-topic onto the subject of What's Funny?) it shows a figure venerated by millions as a dog's ass. That reversal of viewpoint does make people laugh (when it doesn't get them heaving with rage).

I guess if I lived in Cuntlick, Arkansas or someplace like that it would have more humorous impact on me.

It reminds me of the doctored photo of Bush (on 11 September 01) sitting in the classroom looking at the children's book upside down. I mean, do I think Boy George is a numbskull? Yes. But does that make me laugh? No.

It just looks contrived.

A better question would be why is CNN paying attention to these people? It's extremely odd. You have to wonder how they even got wind of these people in the first place... Did they call up CNN and say hey, out cat has a spot that looks kinda like a vague image of Jesus. And they actually bring over a camera crew and do a piece on them? It seems absolutely bizarre to me.

Look out kid, they keep it all hid.

I think they have a certain quota of "warm, fuzzy stories" that they try to fill.

Because CNN is a 24 hour news network right?

Repeating the same news over and over gets boring. Throwing in offbeat topics lightens up the news. Nobody wants to watch nonstop coverage of bad news on economy, Iraq, and the president.

What's very funny is that what people think to be Jesus' face is mostly inspired by the roman artistic interpretation: tall, andsome, green eyed... They totally forgot that Jesus was palestinian, and that he would have looked more like the typical Mohammed Taxi driver in NYC.

Libertatian socialism is the abolition of the state and capitalism. ''Libertarian'' capitalism is hypocrisy.

Be that as it may, if he were to return today it seems he'd only be taken seriously if he appeared as a stain on a wall or the fur on a cat's back. As a human he'd appear to be either a homeless guy or a M.E. terrorist. As a Cheeto he's accessible and acceptable to the majority of Christians who believe these stains and hair patterns are significant.
